![]() ![]() I love the fantastical look and feel this has. I think that is Guillermo's trademark rubbing off on the crew of this one. He genuinely embraces the more fantastical things without a hint of irony or trepidation. That seems to be the modus operandi on Rise of the Guardians. Embrace it and love it.

Dreamworks Animation has had a great track record lately... but I'm a little put off by the previews for this. I'm not sure what to think. Maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised like I was with "How to Train Your Dragon"...

I actually thought it was ok when I first saw it, then hated it the second time. After buying the the Shrek BD set, and rewatching it a third time a while back, it's still my least favorite of the series by far, but I find it slightly enjoyable now.

Well, after getting over my sadness that this is not a sequel to Legend of the Guardians, I can say that it looks very interesting. I will definitely be looking our for this one in the future. Im hoping the story stays really interesting and keeps the feel from the trailer throughout the film.

I'm not particularly fond of the character design but the premise makes up for that!

Rise of the Guardians was pretty good. Nowhere near my favorite Dreamworks movies like How to Train Your Dragon or Panda. The only thing is it's pretty dark in tone. Granted, we're dealing with the boogeyman here, but considering the time of year this is being released, I was expecting more comedy and lightheartedness.

I loved this film and already consider it to be my favorite animated flick from Dreamworks. There's a sense of wonder and awe about it that's missing in most of their films (save for How to Train Your Dragon and The Prince of Egypt, which happen to be my other two favorite films of theirs). I think the scene that really sealed it for me was the scene where
[Show spoiler] People have been saying it feels rushed, but it only felt that way to me in the beginning when we got the hurried introductions to the Guardians themselves. Afterwards, I felt it alternated nicely between the crazy action setpieces and the quieter character moments. I found Jack's backstory both fascinating and heartbreaking, and I'm eager to read the original books which supposedly shed the same light on the rest of the Guardians. I really want this film to do well, because otherwise I fear Dreamworks may want to revert to the tried-and-true wacky animal comedy formula of theirs. I prefer their more adventurous and fantastical flicks like these over, say, the Shrek or Madagascar films.

Pretty good.
Gutted that no one else is embracing it and the audacity to have movies like Madagascar 3 and Hotel Translyvania gross more.
