What happened to the steelbook? Wasn't it announced as a steelbook release a few months back?

Ok, maybe my memory doesn't serve me right in this case.

had a quick look last night!
didnt look awful to me! its never been the most beautiful looking film in any incarnation that ive owned! Id says its easily the best presentation thus far. Well thats my opinion. check out some other reviews ive seen a lot more positive reviews, to be honest i think blu ray definition is a pretty poor site anyhow. |

I thought the transfer was pretty good - a world away from any previous DVD releases at any rate. And the 45 minute interview with Walter Hill is worth the purchase price anyway if you're a true fan of the film.
Incidentally, I mention it only in passing. I could always tell the judge it was a matter of confession...

Compared to the R1 DVD i have it is far superior. Most of the reviews i have read have been positive and i think its a very good transfer.

Probably a little harsh Geoff, Yes. Still stick with my initial 3/5 though. Those caps at the BD-Definition review are a clear indication of what's on the disc. If folks are happy with those, Fair play, Hope you enjoy it. I was just hoping for more as It's a personal favourite, If it had looked as good as The Warriors or even The Long Riders I would of been more than happy.

The Warriors has been smacked around with the DNR stick though, it's a typical early Paramount catalogue title. It's better than some DNR disasters I've seen but it's still a bit too processed for my liking, and it doesn't help that it's the crappy 'director's cut'. I much prefer the UK theatrical DVD because the transfer on that is very nice, very naturalistic, with the grain where it should be, oodles of detail and slightly more subdued colour - not unlike the BD of Southern Comfort...
