I have had it with wireless g or n connection routers, none of them can reach certain locations in my home, i have spent literally hundreds of dollars trying to achieve a solid connection for all my devices. I finally said f it and bought into a netgear nano 500 power-line setup and could not be more impressed with it.
Setup took about 1 minute and was like i was directly plugged into my router, no wireless would be able to accomplish that feat! My home is older built in the early 60's but i seem to have no issues with line noise which can reduce performance. Wireless connection rate was using dsl reports. 6.0mb down and 3.0mb up Powerline connection rate was 18.0mb down and 6.0mb up

I was having trouble last week getting power to my laptop, the cable gave up on me and a new one arrived today only for a new problem to arise,no wi-fi.
I went through the settings with my provider with no joy, wired works fine but the router is in the front hall so isn't an option,it is simply not picking up any wireless connection now. |

I've cascaded Gigabit Ethernet Switches off my wireless/wired router to all the main areas of my home. Nothing beats a wired connection and it simply doesn't cost much these days to invest in the network switches and network cable in addition to those power line adapters if needed where ethernet cable can't be run. Only use wireless with my mobile devices and occassionally with a laptop if it's not being used in a place convenient to run a hard line.

Something I'll probably have to get since I just got a smart TV for my room & the modem & router is way in the front of the house. Thanks OP!

yeah those adapters are pretty neat, they were too slow in my case though. I have ethernet all over the place in my apartment. If anyone saw it they would know for sure a nerd lives there lol
