OH SURE...Just when I "Discovered" how nice the Energy Speakers are, they are "pulling the plug".

Last month, I bought my first pair of Energy Speakers, (RC-10) still breaking them in...(not at 100 hours yet)...Very Nice, Love Them !

Then on this "Black Friday Weekend", I bought a pair of Veritas V-Mini's. Just hooked them up yesterday.
The Smallest Speakers I've owned, but Very Impressed with the Build Quality and Sound.... Beautiful !

That's too bad.
At least they gave them a chance( with the new Veritas ) before pulling the plug.
Sure wish I had picked up a few more of the RC-LCRs or some of the RC-in walls, when they were in stock.

Hi all!

Has anyone gotten a chance to listen to both the veritas v-5.1 and the
CB-10 or 20s?

I have read that both are brighter then the RC-10s but I was curious as to how they both compare to each other. Which one is brighter? Unfortunately I have only been able to listen to the CB-10 and 20s at a local bestbuy and I dont have access to listen to the RC-10s or V-5.1s to do a comparison of the three myself.

Any feedback is greatly appreciated,

ive listened to the 5.1s and cb10. the sound was a little more forward then my old C-300 but I didnt find the speakers to be bright.

To add to this, the Veritas or the RC would be a no brainer over the CB-10 or 20, way better componenents, drivers, x-Over, Veneer vs Vinyl, yes the the Veritas is brighter than the RC specially with a bit more emphasis in the upper mid frequencies over the RC but all in all a great musical speaker and as callas said they are not ear fatiging bright.

The RC are extremely round mellow speakers, very smooth veritas a tad more forward but far from overkill..

Thanks Callas and BigAl! That information does help. I wish I had a way to hear them both, it would make my decision much easier. Im debating on wether to purchase a used pair of RC-10s and RC-LCR or 3 V-5.2s for my front setup. The RCs will need to be shipped, so that brings the cost to about $500, and with the V-5.2s on discount till tomorrow, I could get the 3 for $657.

It is a $157 difference, and the V-5.2s would be pushing my budget a bit, but they would be new speakers, all in Rosenut and not to mention the left and rights would be a larger speaker with the extra woofer. I was even thinking of getting only 2 V-5.2s and go 2.0 for now to keep costs down and pick up the 3rd after the holidays.

I dont have alot of experience with speakers, Im currently running a 2.0 setup with a older pair of sonys so I am not quite sure what kind of speaker sound I prefer. I just know that I thought the CB line sounded really nice, clear, good soundstage... but with the current prices on the used RCs and new Veritas, as BigAl said, its definitely a no brainer to go with one of those instead. I would be using them for about 80% movies/tv.

Anyone have any suggestions on which to go for? Im sure I'll love either one since they are both a definite upgrade... maybe I should just flip a coin

my suggestion would be to get 3 V5.2s. I know it pushes the budget, but it will give you the better output for movies.

Agreed, and place them vertically with the Midrange at the top.

Thanks for the suggestions! I am not sure if this changes anything, but I forgot to mention that I live in a apartment and the living room is rather cozy… about 9ft x 13ft. The TV Is up against one fo the shorter 9ft walls while the couch is up against the adjacent 13ft wall. Not the ideal arrangment for a home theater but my girlfriend and I decided on a full size couch and it wouldn’t fit anyother way or the couch would block a walkway. Would a entry level to mid level AVR be sufficient at running these? Im currently using a hand me down Sony STR-D460Z but plan on upgrading in the new year.

I read that as well and was surprised. Although you have to think something's going on at the prices they're selling all they're products for, they're really having some blowout sales on even the newer products. It will be a sad day to see them go as they have offered some great products over the years at some pretty good prices for the SQ the speakers produced. Have been very happy with the RC Minis in our bedroom setup.

Wow, that is sad news. As a faithful Energy owner for more than 10 years, I've experienced that joy of sound for an affordable price. I would have a hard time getting rid of mine.

Not to mention the veneers on the Veritas are in a high-gloss piano finish vs matte finish on the RC.

I'm thinking about a sound system for our bedroom soon. I want to use my old Yamaha receiver RX-V992 and an old Paradigm sub PSW 1000(?), but don't have any speakers for it yet. I was thinking of these Energys:

the link isnt working for me, but I take it its like the Take speakers setup, and I would think they will be ok for what youre asking.

it should be fine with the V5.2s, you only have to turn it up as loud as you want. For a receiver, the Denon 2112 or Marantz 5007 or Onkyo 717 would be good units

Not to name it they are or were made by Jamo but Audiovox being Audiovox they rebranded to Energy, for 500$ it's not bad of a deal, i just think the center should be a tad bigger but all in all price to performance ratio is decent.

Anyone auditioned the Energy Veritas V5.2C center channel speaker?. I have the 6.2 towers from Veritas, but I am looking for a center channel speaker. The few reviews floating around seem to be pretty good. Thanks!
