I called tech support today and they pointed me to the ampmenu button. So everything is working as it should. Love this new receiver!

hey marantz peoples, i've got a question about the SR7007, i copied this information directly out of the user manual, page 57, hope it displays correctly:
edit: (it wouldn't display correctly as it was a table so i used * symbol(s) next to respective listing catagories that are bolded & underlined to denote colums) Specifications of supported files: Sampling frequency* Bit rate** Extension/File Type*** WMA (Windows Media Audio) 32/44.1/48 kHz* 48 – 192 kbps** .wma*** MP3 (MPEG-1 Audio Layer-3) 32/44.1/48 kHz* 32 – 320 kbps** .mp3*** WAV 32/44.1/48 kHz* –** .wav*** MPEG-4 AAC 32/44.1/48 kHz* 16 – 320 kbps** .aac/.m4a/.mp4*** FLAC (Free Lossless Audio Codec) 32/44.1/48/88.2/96 kHz* –** .flac*** my question is notice the WAV & FLAC neither of them list any numerical amount for bit rates, only - (a dash) what does this dash mean? does it mean all standard bitrates i.e. 44.1/88.2/96/176.4 & 192khz (it can't mean none) just trying to figure out why it's left blank. in the legend for the table there is nothing footnoted about what the dash (-) stands for. it clearly shows the bit rate for WMA, MP3 & MPEG4 file types. the information listed in the table is also shown for audio files used via USB HD (hard drive) or USB TD (thumb drive), PC & NAS (via ethernet) however, there is no information listed for the limitations on digital coax or optical connections (most receivers & pre-amps list this information, my receivers and pre-amp is 96/24 for those digital inputs) almost all receivers & pre-amps (not all a couple are free of this limitation that have recently been released) have the limitation of audio streaming via ethernet in, digital coax & optical of 96/24 & USB. on those receivers only HDMI can support 192/24 sources. i'm trying to understand if this new model receiver has overcome those limitations by accepting up to 192/24 on all digital inputs if available from the sources. i'm just stumped by the (-) dashes and the fact that they don't list the input spec's for the other digital coax & optical connectors. i hope this makes sense. can someone give me some insight on this for this unit and what they feel the information in the table is saying about the (-) dashes. please & thank you in advance! ![]()

I know I'm late to the party, but sollardadd, I think I may have an answer for your question. While not the 7007, but for my 6006, I looked up the same chart. There's a paragraph, just above the chart that you mention, and it specifies the bit rates of both WAV and FLAC file playback. WAV is limited to 16 bit, and FLAC is 16 or 24. If you could point me to a copy of the manual for the 7007, I'd be happy to see if the same information is listed.
found a copy of the manual online. It's listed below the chart. It says WAV Quantization is 16bit, and FLAC is 16 or 24 bit. Hope that helps.

I posted this elsewhere on the net, but thought I'd check here too.
Thanks! Sorry if this has been covered (if so, please direct me to the post so I can check it out). I've been having some issues lately when I run iTunes from my Mac via airplay to the Marantz 6006. Not so much trouble sending the audio and listening but once I switch inputs (from Net/USB) to any other input, I lose audio. Picture still comes through fine, just no audio. If I disconnect the power, and replug in, everything comes back fine. Any ideas? example - watching TV - audio fine, switch to Net/USB and stream iTunes - audio fine, switch back to TV - no audio or turn on receiver, stream iTunes (all fine) and then switch to TV - no audio I haven't had this issue before, so this is kinda odd. I have an airport express hooked up to the Marantz to share my internet connection rather than straight ethernet. Any help would be greatly appreciated! |

Just dropping by to say 'hey!' to Marantz owner as I have just joined you guys. Picked up NR1403. Posted a thread already about it in the receiver forum but thought I'd write something here too..
anyone know if NR1403 will be a good match with HKTS 15 speakers? (My old set up was HKTS 15 speakers + HK 154 receiver..) also.. while I was in the store some dude seemed pretty excited about a crazy bargain he just got... was telling me about how he bought these 3k speeakers out of someone's trunk for 100 bucks.... told him about white van scam... poor guy was in the store to buy a receiver to go with those speakers too.. ![]() These scammers are getting fairly elaborate with a website and everything.. he told me the brand name (Bergmann) so I checked it out and jeeez.. http://bergmannspeakers.com/ |

I do love the sound though, nice and clean sound. The setup was a lot easier then the Denon but now I am used to my AVR 988. I also love the look of the Marantz receivers with the small porthole. If it was up to me, I rather have no window on the receiver and have everything just display on the screen with a touch of a button. I saw some receivers where they have a huge window and hate that look. I prefer more metal, like some of the high end amps, not say this receiver is high end of any sort but sufficient for my needs. I apologize in advance if I offended anyone but these are just my opinions.

I do listen anywhere between -10db to - 5 db with no distortion but I listen to 2 channel. Sorry I forgot to mention, that I added a Parasound Halo A23 to the preouts and the receiver runs a lot cooler. But it did get so hot that I couldn't put my hand on it before and I left a lot of clearance on top and back is open in the rack. I have had about 6 receivers and never had this issue. So with an amp added to the avr, it doesn't get warm but geez without it was so hot.

I just noticed that you have the Paradigm studio 100's. Congrats and I was attracted to them as well because I love the curved cabinet they are in. I got to hear them but the dealer I went to, wouldn't let me hear them at high volumes and he kept trying to push the studio 60's in which I was not interested in them. Kept telling me he had them in stock and that I would have to wait. I told him I don't mind waiting but this guy was just not listening. I kind of got a bad experience but oh well. You can't click with everyone. Enjoy your speakers and your nice sound system.
