Outside of 1 or 2 years with Eric Berry a few years back, have they been any good since Peyton?

Well they did win the national title the year after Peyton left, but they really haven't been relevant since the mid-2000s and they haven't made a BCS bowl since 1999. Still, they're an SEC program that draws over 100,000 fans per game in a state that is obsessed in football, so you would think they'd be able to draw an upper-tier coach.

Butch Jones has turned down the Colorado job according to ESPN. Last night the Denver Post reported that he had accepted the offer. This does not guarantee Jones will be at Cincinnati though, as the Wisconsin job is still open and he could certainly be a candidate.

Post 1998 is seemed like Tennessee always underperformed expectations. They were always top 10 in recruiting nationally but their classes never seemed to pan out.

You couldn't do any worse. They were the worst BCS conference team this season going 1-11 with their only win by one point.

ESPN reported this afternoon they are going to be interviewing Butch Jones and Kirby Smart. I think the latter would be a good pick. Although he lacks head coaching experience, he is young, enthusiastic, and has been the protege to the one true master in college football coaching.

I agree that Kirby Smart would be a great choice. He's had chances to leave in the past but seems to be waiting for the right opportunity. His stock is only going to rise because Alabama's defense is going to stay strong so he can be picky.

I have also read that Bo Pelini has told Tennessee he'd be interested in the job. I really wouldn't be surprised if he left. Ever since he came to Nebraska he's been flirting with leaving and he's never really been embraced by the Nebraska fans. I really don't think Nebraska would give him a new deal or raise if he threatened to leave and a lot of fans would be happy to see him go.

Cal has hired Sonny Dykes.

Let's see if blu-ray.com's filters are as much fun as Yahoo's... http://deadspin.com/5966364/introduc...football-coach

I just don't see it happening. I could have seen it making sense the last time when they hired Dooley but I don't know if Tennessee would want him after 3 mediocre (at best) seasons at Texas Tech.

He has a proven winning track record in the SEC, including an undefeated season in 2004.

I actually hadn't heard any rumors about this, but it seems like a good fit to me.

The problem with the Tennessee job--and the reason I think coaches are rejecting them--is that the prospective coaches may be wary of joining a program so desperate to turn things around fast. It's possible the coaches smell panic and are put off by it.

Sources say Butch Jones has accepted the Tennesse job. I guess this explains why he declined the Colorado job.

Butch Jones is a better hire than I expected for Tennessee after getting rejected numerous times. I still think Kirby Smart would have been a better hire but who knows if he even wanted the job. Jones has done well in his career but he's never taken over a bad team. At both Central Michigan and Cincinnati he was inheriting teams that Brian Kelly had led to success so we'll see how he does with a rebuilding project.

I would've like to have seen him get the job, too. But Dave Hart was adamant about hiring someone with previous experience. Jones seems like a good hire, but he's got a helluva recruiting challenge if he's to be successful.

Former Oklahoma quarterback and Heisman winner Jason White has revealed his Heisman ballot (all former Heisman winners automatically get a vote):
