If you gotten the 3009, you could still use the emo amp. I believe having the emo amp with the 3009, and having the amp powering your front stage, and the 3009 handling the rest, including your heights would have been perfect 9.1 setup.

I know the 3009 has more power/better amp section,but if I'm using the Emo to power the front 3 ,what is the difference.. Plus the 3009 was $1399 and I got the 818 for $865 new. The only diff also I saw was the 3009 eq's 2 subs which isn't that big of a deal to me. What exactly are height speakers going to do for me?

I’m not sure what the heights are going to do for you, it was you who mentioned that you’re about to set the heights up, and not have the rear surrounds.

Having the emo amp power the front three, would give the 3009 more power to distribute to the other six speakers. Since you have the 818 and emo amp, the emo would power your front stage, and the 818 would use its power to the other four speakers.

Humm, but yet, that was a damn good price for the 818…

That's why I bought it,couldn't pass up that deal. I couldn't believe it,I hit power on to power all my gear on with my harmony one,I was gonna add the 818 to it,when it powered that on too. I'm like huh? lol I don't need to add it,it must have taken the 805's programming,but it works great.. I downloaded the Onkyo remote app on my Galaxy S3,but no dice. Won't connect. I updated the firmware on the 818 last night,but it looks like there is another one,cause it pops up saying I need to update it. So maybe it will work after that.

I did the samething at first, I left the programming alone from the 805 to the 5008, but there were much more stuff added to the remote when I updated to the 5008.

humm, I will look for the Onkyo remote for the S3. Do you know if that is infrared or radio from the S3.

Its not infrared.I downloaded an app called Onky Troller Pro. Works beautifully. Its like $4,but its worth it.

how long did you own the 708? what happend to it, did it completely fail or is the failure major enough that it's not usuable enough for you?

Any "high speed certified" HDMI cable will get the job done. brand is your choice.

monoprice.com is your friend. monster is overpriced like Bose... decent quality but 10x more than it should be
