Personally I liked the previous x-High/HD stream better then their more compressed high/HD stream with the new encode.
I've had this issue since i've bought the player in june/july of this year. It isn't a big deal to me as i'm not a netflix watcher, but my wife uses netflix alot and its an issue for her.

Do any of the other internet app's have buffering issues/stalls? Possibly the Wireless dongle could be swapped out in talking with Oppo.

I've tried it with a wired connection with the same issues, so i'm thinking the wireless dongle is alright. I live in Canada so the other streaming apps don't work here. but it always works fine when doing firmware updates or connecting to BD Live

Just available:

Those interesting in controlling their BDP-93/95/103/105 with a iPhone/iPad can find the iOS version of the Oppo remote app here.

The 93/95 players require the most recent FW is installed.

Thanks! This is a pleasant surprise since I thought the 93 wouldn't work with the app. Look forward to playing with it.

Oppo bdp-103 can do netflix with 1080p and 5.1 sound.

I hoped Oppo will update the BDP-93 to support that as well.

Does not look like it yet

Anyone know if EU 103 also can do netflix in 1080p and 5.1 now that some european countries got netflix? Heard we haven't got an app for it yet but maybe will change?

“It is not likely that the BDP-9x platform will be upgraded to support Netflix 3.0 which is required to support multi-channel audio and 1080p video. The main reason for this is that he decoder manufacturer, MediaTek, is not too interested in working on integrating the new API into the player as the hardware is already two years old, while Netflix is not too interested in helping us integrate their API as we do not bring in large number of new or repeating customers.

Due to the limited resources we are receiving from these two partners, we do not believe that the new interface can be added to the player through a future firmware release.

More of a question for the 103/105 thread. The BDP-103EU has the same Netflix app version.

oppo like many other companies have contraints placed on them by other companies and usually because of licensing or other issues (as mentioned about the netflix) they simply can't support or supply the service that some of us want. yet, without knowing some of these types of facts you see people who are down on Oppo because they aren't doing something.

great information, again, thanks John!

Has anyone tried the new iOS app for controlling your Oppo BD player? It is compatible with 93/95/103/105 models. I'll give it a try when I get home tonight.

If any of you are using a Pioneer Kuro plasma for best results according to members on here and ISF certified calibrators on other website/forums it's best to set the bd player to RGB 16-235 and the Kuro display to Color Space 3.

To assign the type of digital signal, follow the steps below.
1 ) Access the Option through the Setup.
2 ) Select HDMI Input from the Option menu.
3 ) Select Video from the submenu.
4 ) Select the type of digital video signal recommended for the attached device. Color 3

If you use other displays I would look into where the Color Space on the bd player and display should be for best PQ.

Hmmm... doesn't seem to work with my Samsung Galaxy II, for some reason...

Worthless piece of crap! Heck, even my new washer and dryer have an app to interface with my phone, lol... but then I guess maybe it's because they are Samsung, too??

I tried these steps and the Kuro had a magenta hue to everything on screen. I thought I screwed up a connection since the Oppo BDP-105 was a new component. Swawpped cable, HDMI ports, rebooted the pre-pro...then I remembered I tried this setting. Went back to Auto instead of Color 3 and everything's back to normal.

I did have my unit ISF calibrated. Maybe he set something that doesn't agree with Color 3...just guessing since I stopped watching the tech.

Have my old 8G Kuro also ISF calibrated a while back and not gonna change to RGB/color 3 now since it will most likely screw up the calibration. Those who are about to calibrate or do it themself can probably test these setting with better results.

Well it would appear that my Mod had a faulty thumb disk. David Gatti in Melbourne is sending me a replacement so I should be up and running by the middle of this week.

Also tried the app and it's so much faster and you don't have to point towards the player, excellent remote. Will be using this instead from now on
