It seems that your Onkyo 1007 trigger option only applies for Zone 2 and 3. In other words is sending signals to turn on/off other devices when you select any of these zones, but does nothing for the main zone.

Best thing to do is contact Onkyo to confirm this and be sure about it.

cr136124 you are correct , the onkyos triggers are for zone 2 and zone 3. But can be made to turn on/off your main external amp.

You can use either zone trigger to turn on/off the amp. Plug amp trigger into either zone 2 or zone 3 trigger out on the receiver, Click zone 2/3 button (will light up Red when zone 2 , Green for zone 3) then power button to turn on amp, push receiver mode button then power button to turn on the receiver.
You can program this as a macro into the activities buttons on the Onkyo remote as well.

This is how it works on my Onkyo TX-NR1009 , I'm sure it would be nearly the same for the 1007 even though the remote is slightly different than mine. If you have a harmony remote there are work arounds for that as well.

Yeah, the Dims work pretty damn well I think. If this isn't dim enough, remember that you can add another layer.

As for the Labrador tree... yeah, she had to be in the middle of everything... from opening all the ornaments to checking the light bulbs... which was what I was doing when I took the pic.

BTW, I made that bell collar for her, attaching the bells with zip ties (how real men sew). Its hilarious hearing this jingling as she trots and runs around the house. Plus she loves all the attention she gets from it.

Yeah, I know I need to post Aperion pics. I do plan to get the Emotiva XPA-1Ls (Class A to 30 watts!) around January so I may wait until I get that to post pics... Maybe not...

As for Sophie, besides my objections, my wife will not stop for anything to get her back. There maybe a dead, fat guy in a red suit if Santa tried.

Do you have a universal remote like Logitech's Harmony series? Even the lower end like the 550 (is this still in production?) works. I used to run an Onkyo, and I have posted before how to trigger the amp that may help you.

Maybe someone can put something like this in a stickie or something... especially since Onkyo keeps insisting on assigning ALL the triggers to OTHER zones.

Now how to setup your remote.

1. Go into your Onkyo receiver's menu. Make sure that the 12v trigger is activated for Zone 2.

2. Go into your Harmony remote control setup software. Go to the "Devices" tab, click "Add Device" and search for "Onkyo (insert model number) Zone 2." Add this as a new component, and you can even rename it "Emotiva Amp."

3. Setup all your "Activities" as normal (if you have not already).

4. Go back into ALL your "Activities" one by one. Go to Settings>>>Review Settings For This Activity>>>"Yes, but I want to add more control of options and devices for this Activity."

5. On the next page, manually add your new component "Emotiva Amp" (or the default name) from "Devices Not in Use" to "Devices in Use."

6. Save and program your remote.

So you still need to add this new component to ALL Activities. If you only add it to "Watch TV," when you switch to "Play Blu-Ray," your remote will turn OFF all other components not being used. If you do not have the "Emotiva Amp" device as one of the components being used int "Play Bluray," the remote will turn off the amp when you switch from "Watch TV."

You are all set. This will program your Harmony remote to turn you amp On and Off via Onkyo's 12v trigger.

Thanks for the tip. So, what is the product number at Frys? I have 3 amps to dim, so do you think set of the dims will do. Or should I buy more of them?

Ha, I can totally relate to that, we do have a chocolate lab at home and she is a diva / drama queen.

Hey everyone, I’m looking for some advice. I currently have a 7.2 setup with Polk LSI15, C, FX and 7’s. I have everything except the 7’s running from my Rotel RMB -1095. The 7’s are connected to my Pioneer SC-05. I am looking to upgrade the Pioneer to an Integra DHC-40.2. This of course means that I need 2 extra ch’s of amplification. I plan to run my center and surrounds off the Rotel and get 2 mono blocks for the LSI-15’s. The 15’s are 4ohm and require at least 250 watts. For the mono blocks I want to go with something that is an improvement over the Rotel with more power. I have narrowed it down to the Emotiva XPA-100 @ $379 each or the Outlaw audio Model 2200. What does everyone think I should go with? Any other recommendations in this price point are welcome.

i cant comment on the outlaw since ive never heard one but i have read great reviews .
i can say emotiva makes great products i own 3 and they are great !

I know your interest is in a pair of monoblock amps, but what about a Emotiva XPA-2 (two channel amp with 500 watts RMS @ 4 ohm) and currently on sale at $679.00

I have two of them and they are fantastic. But, keep in mind size and weight before buy one of them.

Thanks! Yep, they'll power the C2s, and if I like them, might pick up a third for the center. Will see; the issue will be placement of a third one, which would require me to buy a new corner rack to support the weight.
