Blu-ray Samurai

Okay, first off, I want to move my 42" 3D LED into my Bedroom (12 feet or so from wall to wall) and put a 50" Plasma into my living room (I face west, so the sun comes in here during the day, but I can easily shut the drapes over and at night, its very very dim in here). My gf is fighting me on doing that, as she claims 42" is too large for the bedroom and 50" is too big out here (again, 10-12 feet away from couch). So, is plasma a good way to go in this room (dim-ish and pitch black shutting off lights for movies)
These are the 2 Plasma's I'm looking at: Samsung 51" PN51E550FXZC http://www.bestbuy.ca/en-CA/product/...7d061afc95en02 Panasonic 50" (50UT50) http://www.bestbuy.ca/en-CA/product/...449907554cen02 I'll take suggestions on others, but I'm really only looking at about a grand.
TV: LG42LM6200 3DTV / Panasonic Viera TC-P50UT50
Blu Ray Player: Seiki BD 660 / Sony BDP-S590 HTPC: Running Ubuntu w/ XBMC Consoles: Wii / Xbox 360 -I swear, I'm so pissed off at my mom. As soon as she's of age, I'm putting her in a home. |

I think I just declared fuggit, and I'll just get something cheap for the bedroom just to last until I see what the OLED ends up costing around the end of next year, or early 2014 and then consider that. Hopefully and maybe move somewhere that I'm not facing west and be blinded by the sun with my blinds open =P

You know, I sit 10' from a 60" and to tell you the truth, the next will be no less and if 65" or bigger is available at a price point of the best compromise, then I would go higher (right now I would go for a 60" Panny ST or sammy 6500 series).
Try to go with your gf somewhere where you can demo a 60" at 12' and you'll see what I mean. And anytime I go somewhere where I watch on anything smaller (on a realtive scale obv) I find myself taken out of the movie, and to a fairly big degree. Maybe even a 55 if you can add a few $100s |

Is it just my view ... or,... are plasma sets really the best for 3D?
I have a plasma and a projector and the plasma gets a lot right concerning 3D. It's got a very high refresh rate and lots of light output... I think that's what makes them best for 3D. -Brian
