Default Help viewing 2D/3D blu ray?

Not sure if this is the right place or not to ask this but anyway. Ive looked for a solution to this and have not found one. I just resident evil retribution 3D blu ray as i have a 3Dtv and blu ray player and its one of those blu rays where both the 3Dand 2D versions of the movie are on the same disc. Well im visiting my gf and she has a fully updated ps3 but not a 3D tv its a fully hd led anyway i go to play the movie on it and it will not play. It gets to the screen with the metal spider, it loads then goes to a black screen and says no signal and does nothing until i press some buttons on the cntroller and it goes back to the xmb. Can someone tell me if theres some setting i need to change on the ps3 or something? Thanks.
I'm sorry Wendy but I just don't trust anything that bleeds for 5 days and doesn't die.

I played Underworld Awakening on a friends 2D player and 2D TV and it played fine. You would think Resident Evil would too.

However, I don't know anything about PS3 settings since I don't have one, so I can't help you there. There are plenty of people here that do though.

Go into the video settings on the PS3 and manually set all of the information, tv size, type, and resolution. Try that and get back to us.

Most 3D I've seen on Xbox is garbage so that my be why Halo 4 didn't have it as the game is still on DVD ... not bluray ... I would be willing to bed that Metal Gear Rising has it, even though them Demo didn't ... I'm sure there are a lot of other things not on the Demo

Good point about DVD vs Blu Ray capacity for 3D, 3D requiring a lot more data.

Yes, I noticed most developers overlook 3D, partially because it takes up more memory and could likely slowdown the frame rate. A game like Skyrim or Fallout New Vegas on the PS3 in 3D, would probably crash every 2 frames, considering those games chug slow enough at times once the RAM is almost used up, or whatever causes the save files to exceed 12 MBs each.

I think 3D does well with linear level action games and racing games. Gran Turismo's 3D was decent, but seemed like they rushed it last minute. The trophy's rotating are actually reverse 3D as an example.

I'm playing Assassin's Creed 3 and Batman Arkam City in 3D and they are quite good! I really hope they continue with more ps3 3d games.

Someone on the gamefaqs board said there was a warning for 3d in the manual or intro or something so,if there is a warning for it i dont see why 3d would not be in the final game, guess we will find out next month!

I downloaded and played the demo (loved it btw) ... I'm sure the 3D was excluded to save space ... I think this game would look great in 3D!!

Have both an Oppo 103 and PS3. As good as the PS3 is with bluray, the Oppo blows it away when I switch back n forth between the two with a number of the movies I have duplicates of that I double dipped for the 3d version.

3d also has significantly less crosstalk with the Oppo. Last but not least, the audio quality is what truly separates the two on high end receiver/speaker set ups.

I didn't think 3D in games would require much extra space (if any)? Isn't it just rendered on the fly?

I'd say the support isn't great since the quality for 3D games on home consoles is pretty ordinary. Didn't the most recent Gears Of War have it? I remember turning it on and noticing that the resolution dropped significantly in 3D mode. Also, there were always strange odd 'depth-halos' around objects which makes me question how they were presenting the game in 3D - it almost looked converted, which is very weird considering the native, on-the-fly nature of a game.

On the PS3 (don't know about XBox as I don't own one of those), the resolution drops from 720p to 480p when 3D is activated. I'm really hoping the PS4 has 1080p 3D.

I thought Batman: Arkham City Was the first PS3 game to offer full 1080p 3D? May just be 1080p when playing in 2D. IDK, been a while since I've read anything about ps3. Been prepping for the ps4.

Batman: AC is 720p 2D and 3D on the PS3, though I can't recommend it for 3D. The game is awesome, but the reprojection technique looks too fake for my taste. Dual-camera rendering games look much better, even though they take bigger hits in video quality.
