[Show spoiler]Yeah, it was after the feast at Bilbo's where they were singing when i finally adjusted, but when he went running through Hobbiton trying to catch up with the group is when the CG thing really started to bug me and it stayed with me through the whole film, especially at Rivendell and the final battle with the one armed orc!
But as i said i really enjoyed it

Some fans are really rabid regarding Nolan taking on an almost Metallica-esque "they sold out after Justice!" approach. Me, I love both his early and more recent works and despite the grander scales and increased budget I still find his work to feature the little touches and professionalism in areas you don't see in big films usually.

It's been about 5 years since I last saw Following so I'll let you know what my thoughts are once I've viewed it again but I can't see any reason my thoughts would have changed.

Amazon DE is quite good. Sometimes you get a tracking number, other times not. Still they usually average around 12-14 days using standard shipping which is not too bad considering the recent post issues. They pack well if there are any issues they respond in English.
Sounds like i should just bite the bullet and grab it. Should've done it while they were stupidly cheap but oh well!

I'll probably watch it tomorrow night. Going to see one of my favourite Aussie bands (Dead Letter Circus) tonight. If you want to hold out until then I can make sure I post my thoughts tomorrow night if you want to order it ASAP...

I will be squeezing in a viewing of The Amazing Spider-man this afternoon before I head out. Going to watch it in 2D for my first viewing of the film and then will check the 3D version next time.

Watched: The Hobbit HFR 3D

Hmmm... what can I say? I really enjoyed the film, the script and the characters..

48fps? for the 3D, it made it really effective, way more clear, clearer than Avatar. For the actual style.. no I am not a fan. It did feel like a TV Mini-Series / Docudrama throughout the whole film.. never really felt like a 'movie' and I couldn't quite block out reality and merge with the film like i usually do.

Be interesting to see how it looks in 2D at 24fps and if that makes any difference.

Oh, and I almost walked out in the first 5 minutes when Bilbo looked like he had been stuck on fast foward.. another 48fps benefit.. although I did get used to it.

Spent the better part of an hour and a half going through my wishlist, throwing blu's in and out of my Amazon basket before I was able to make a decision.

Finally decided on these four films.

Predator 2
Killer Elite
The Expendables
The Transporter
.

Went and banked the money I got for X-mas, and used the majority of it to buy these.
My Setup:- TV - Sony Bravia KDL-40V4000, Blu-ray Player - Sony BDP-S570, Amplifier - Yamaha HTR-6130, Speakers - Sherwood GSP-5110 5.1 Ch Speaker System.

So many quotes I could put here, but what to choose, can't put them all, so I put this instead.

Wanted: Slips for Lady & The Tramp, Pinocchio & Who Framed Roger Rabbit?

1.5 hours? That's a hell of a lot of squeeze for little juice.

Well, yeah.

I didn't want to go silly. It took every ounce of my strength to not give in to temptation and just go all out.

Now to decide which as yet unwatched film(s) I will take for a spin tonight.

Watched: The Last House on the Left (Remake)

Wasn't too bad for a remake.. I guess that might be because of the involvement from Wes Craven.

[Show spoiler]I did miss the chainsaw though, but thought the waste disposal/kitchen murder made up for it.

Watched "The Hobbit". Saw it in 2D, so didn't notice anything unusual, but it was pretty epic.

Good to know, belgavin, thanks.

My blind-buy copy of it arrived just before Christmas, but I haven't settled down to watch it yet. I've heard very positive comments.

Watched The Hobbit in 48fps. Bad choice, really detracted from the experience. CGI was very obvious and motion was sped up at times. 3/5 (for the movie itself)

Anyone who has seen the hobbit, does it matter if you haven't seen The Lord of the rings movies or like me have seen them but it was when the originally came out and can barely remember them?
Planning on going to see it tomorrow and haven't had time to re-watch the LOTR

There's really not that much connection besides are few scenes in there LOTR era. Technically, the Hobbit is best watch before LOTR.
WTB:
Standard Blu's: Finding Nemo (non 3D with slip), same for Brave. Cars 2 3D with all discs. Disney 3D releases (G-Force, Chicken Run, Little and Meet the Robinsons etc.). Beauty and the Beast Xmas with slip.

There will be some familiar characters, but you don't need to know LotR in depth for The Hobbit. In fact, I think the prologue of the film pretty much sums up what you do need to know.

Boy, what an experience CitW is. I love that Whedon & co. took the horror movie formula, and basically turned it up on its head. As long as we have film makers like him and others of his ilk then Hollywood is not completely dead yet.

3:10 to Yuma is such a pleasure to watch, great performances, direction, and cinematography make this a truly great modern Western.
