I agree, it's a nice cover image for this Blu-Ray. |

I can never judge pop in a theater (but let's just assume since this is Pixar, there was none) but the depth in this was phenomenal. This is the first Pixar movie I can honestly say I will never watch in 2D again.

That's good to hear. Yeah, the 3D preview in theaters looks much stronger for the 3D than most of Pixar's past efforts.

Just got back from this, and enjoyed it quite a bit. The movie itself was just as good as I remember, and the 3-D was generally respectable. Better than Pixar's other re-renders to 3-D. Moderate depth was evident throughout most of the film, with a few moments that truly shone. The chase scene that took place in the door storage warehouse was particularly outstanding; I was amazed at how the 3-D opened that scene up and how huge it made the warehouse feel. Not much in the way of pop-out, obviously, since this movie wasn't made with 3-D in mind and they would've had to actually re-animate certain scenes if they'd wanted to shoehorn a bunch of pop-outs in there. There was some very nice dimensionality on some close-up shots of characters, as well... Randall in particular, since the elongated structure of his body allows for that kind of thing to really be evident; and also in the Himalayas scenes for some reason... possibly the lighting.
The opening credits were also surprisingly well-done in 3-D; a marvelous study in layers. Was nice to see For the Birds in 3-D, as well. That was a nice touch... almost made me feel like I was back in the theatre watching it for the first time, lol. I hope that makes it onto the 3DBD release. I saw the movie in the theater this afternoon and the 3D was okay, not spectactular. I had to remind myself that it was only a 3D conversion of a 2D film. I always think of Disney having the most money to make a 3D film look good but I always feel underwhelmed when I come out of the theater after one of their 3D movies.,.even like-action like The Avengers, which I thought did the 3D better on Blu-ray than in the moviehouse.

Either way, I was not impressed by Monsters, Inc 3D. p.s. -- You just convinced me not to go out and do any last-minute Christmas shopping this morning. I don't want to face any more short-tempered people out there. Last edited by bluskies; 12-24-2012 at 02:53 PM. |

Plenty of information out there for those who are interested, but don't know where to look.

Was the "Put That Thing Back Now or So Help Me" play during the end credits of the 3D re-release a special feature on any of the DVD/BD releases? If not, then I may actually have a reason to go get the 3D BD when it comes out, assuming they put it on there...
Update: nvm, I just found it on the BD with the outtakes, although they're very well hidden. Hopefully, we'll get them in the credits on the 3D BD coming out next month...
It's a cartoon, Bart. Cartoons don't have to make sense.
