Nobody got in a fight or got hurt and everything was very christmassy. Although not quite the Christmas that i remember from my childhood but very fine none the less.

Yes i know the feeling. I get it like that. With bigger intervals than you though (partying that is).

My gym time also got harder today. Only managed about 4km of running at 12km/h, 20 minuttes of rowing at level 10/~2.20 minutes pr. 500 meters. A couple hundred situps with a stand, 5+ times of 10 backlifts and ending up with situps with 30kg weights 5-10 times of 10.

Normally i put a bit more effort in it but all of the sweets and the Christmas dinner really took the top off.

These are the differences compared to the Lumagen which have pretty much everything:


The Duo provides numerous digital and analog inputs so installations are somewhat more flexible.

It also offers a simpler and more attractive user-interface.

However, the Duo lacks the power of the Mini3D. The Duo has fewer test patterns, only offers grayscale/gamma adjustments at 10% increments (versus 5% on the Lumagen), only passes 3D (It will not generate 3D test patterns), and it will calibrate color only at the gamut boundary compared to the Lumagen which will do an advanced 125 point colour management system (CMS). However i dare not think how long it will take too tweak all those points even with autocal.

The downside of the Lumagen Radiance Mini3D is it only has 2 inputs (however 4 virtual inputs) and 1 output. Also the price..the smallest of the Lumagen units are almost double the price of the duo.

The Lumagen has got 3D processing and output, not just pass-through like the duo. However i don't care much for 3d and a calibration of 3d would be a little difficult and lower overall brightness and for 3d you'll need all the brightness you can get.

The Lumagen has slightly better upscaling and much more frequent firmware updates. Plus the Duo is chip locked so only the CMS part can be updated as far as i know.

Yes the firmware update do a full factory reset. I could have saved the settings with Michaels Duo Control Panel but since i properly will get a completely new unit i didn't do that.

I would love that the update could make it more like that unit but i don't think that will ever be due to limitations of the duo chipset

So too answer your question. Yes it would be nice with better greyscale, gamma og color adjustments but im not sure if i would use all of it if i had it. 5+ hours per display is what i use of time with my duo and im sure i could at least add a couple of more hours to that did i have a Lumagen. I also only have the budget I1 Display 3/Pro which in my eyes matches the budget duo better than the Lumagen.

The settings of the box are pretty extensive..so writing it all down by hand would be very unpractical..I would use the duo control app for that.

Hmm pretty cheap might serve me well in the new year. (only in 100 and 125" sizes though).

It also matches my wall mounts. It will mean that i'll have too position it one foot off center though.

That looks like a great deal. Just be careful. There are a few one star reviews because of it arriving damaged, but there are six times more five star reviews, so it's probably safe.

Why would you have to position it off center?

Im not sure all of the amazon reviews are for that particular product but yes there's always a chance of damage.. Especially when shipping a very long way.

It's 37cm at least too the left to make it fit. There's also the bottom metal bar i haven't added. That will add another 9cm (can be cut if absolutely needed). The reason it's needed to place it offcenter is that the right wall is in the way.

I'll manage though as long as it's not several meters off. My primary concern being the frontstage stereo balance and center/dialog.

Im ill. Im having a sore throat and snot inside my head and therefore i have headaches.

But it feels like im getting slightly better now (i hope).

As soon as i know more about the projector i'll let you know mate but for the last couple of weeks it's just been packed inside of my closet.
