Both of my theatres updated their showtimes for Christmas and neither one of them got this movie.

Got back from seeing this movie and just loved it! and I am in love with Jennifer Lawrence even more. For sure in my fave top 10 of the year.

It was alot funnier then I thought it be. But also had those great dramatic moments. Funny seeing them talk about the Eagles seeing how I'm from PA, but no way am I a Eagles fan. What year was this suppose to take place in 2008? They mentioned something about the Phillies in the World Series and I think that's the year they won it.

I was finally able to see this today and really enjoyed it! Seeing Chris Tucker in this was a surprise.

is there a way to tell the nearest theatre playing this? i searched in the cities witrhin a 7 hour radius and nothing.

It's only in 745 theaters and Les Mes is in like 3,800 so you probably won't find it lol

yeah I love how BOTH of my theatres can get Les Mis but not Silver Linings. The two theatres in town are like 1/4 mile apart.

Heard nothing but great things about this film. Can't wait to see it, but unfortunately it's only showing at one theater in my city.

Edit: I guess I'm lucky I got it in the one compared to most posting on this thread. It always sucks when the good movies get passed over yet the same theater will show the same movie in 3-4 theaters.

A little slow in the beginning, but other than that it was great. Kind of a chick flick but one a guy shouldn't mind sitting through. A great story and Cooper and Lawerence were phenomenal in it.

Decent, but the ending was way too canned and pat, and the writers dropped the ball on DeNiro's character.

Was it just me or did anyone else notice in one of the TV trailers, that they just called the movie "Silver Linings"? And if so, does marketing dept think that the title of this movie is preventing less ticket sales?

Guess I'm gonna get to be "that guy" this time then. It's not that it's a bad film by any stretch of the imagination, but I was just bored watching it. The acting is all-around solid, even if I don't really get all the Oscar buzz, and I don't really find anything here to relate to, and a lot of the plot devices feel really tacked on. I get both the "father-son" and the "two damaged people helping each other heal" plotlines, I just couldn't connect with what was happening, I just felt indefferent when I should have been moved. Maybe I just had an off day or something, but this wasn't anything special at all in my eyes.

I got around to watching this movie last week and I have to say I absolutely hated it. The acting was good but the mental illness angle just irked me. As a therapist, it wasn't as realistic as I would have liked. I think I was too close to the subject matter to enjoy it.
