Anyone attempted to hide wires in a Exterior Wall? - Blu-ray Forum

After Mounting my Speakers, i now have the challenge of wiring the speakers and attempting the best wire management.

The TV and Speakers are mounted on a exterior wall so the wires cannot be fished inside the wall.

I seem to have OCD or something as i would hate to even use wire tunnels or something similar as i want a perfectly clean looking wall.

I wondered if anyone here has attempted to hide wires with a exterior wall, i thought i could maybe use a chisel and create a tunnel in the brick and then fill over the top. Would this work? Or are there better Ways?

Im just looking for general help.

On saying that. It was easy for me. The room was built as a Theatre right from the start.

I did that upstairs before my theater was built. What i did was decide on a baseboard. Took half the height of the baseboard as measured on the drywall. Drew a line on the perimeter of where i was going as a guide. Took 12 hours and chipped away the drywall with a chisel and drywall saw. Then hid the wiring. Put the baseboard back nailing into upper half of baseboard.

The only trade off is the baseboard in some places is higher than it should be off the floor. The solution would be to use a larger base board. Maybe 5 7/8 inch??

All my wires have drilled out 50mm holes. I have a few extra runners left in the walls also. They are just any cable doing nothing in the wall. If I need to do a new cable I just tie or tape it on the useless cable. Get inside the roof and pull it up. Bang new cable is in the wall. You can see a blank in the above photo. Silver plate at the top with nothing in it.

My house is really old, by exterior i mean only brick, not even cavity.

My wires are in plastic trunking(see gallery)that when was painted the same colour as my wall does a very good hassle free job that I am more than happy with.

Grinder will solve your issue.

I am going to assume you have a similar house as I have. The exteroir walls are brick, but the interior is coated smooth. If this is the case, you will need to grind a groove large enough for your cables. After you they are in place, you will need to cover the cables... most likely with a plaster material since a drywall compound will probably not adhere to the existing wall very well.

I've gone ahead and done a similar thing with a chisel.
It may have taken a bit longer, but it worked out just fine.

Adding some plaster tomorrow.
