Not going to happen, the wife won't go for the finish of the 110's in the living room. Not even going to attempt to mess around with anything other than the basement again, to much of a headache.

By the time you buy the stands and everything for the S1.4's they're not really much less than the 3.4's are going for, if I could find some for a $500 difference I'd just go for the 3.4's.

Next weekend I'll be heading to Chicago to hit up Saturday Audio and Next Level or Pro Musica. If the Dyns are as good as everyone says, I'll be a new Dynaudio owner.

Callas (or anyone else), I consider you one of the Dynaudio experts. If you have heard the Focus 260 or the Contour 3.4's, what is the difference in sound between the two in your opinion? Thanks...

I mentioned this in another thread but it's more appropriate here...Dyvaudio vs Eggelston Works speakers....how many of you have heard both? They are very similar IMHO...and I have heard both. They have the same sound signature to me.

The differences are mostly in presentation. The Focus is a little more "tipped up" if you will and the Contours are a little more "relaxed" if you will. I dont want to say bright or laidback since neither is that way; its just which side of neutral do you prefer. One of the bigger differences is that the new focus can get going at lower levels better then the contours, basically they can sound more dynamic and lower volume levels because of the crossover design being more sensitive, IMO.

The 3.4s are IMO very balanced overall, probably one of the most balanced speakers they make, and probably one of the most balanced speakers Ive ever heard. However I find it a little boring by comparison to the other contours and the focus. But it truly is an excellent speaker. The 260s are more energetic and lively be comparison, and do a great job of having the bass of a tower and disappear like a monitor speaker.

A nice audition of them both would be best tho, as you can form your own opinion.

Great read! I bet Dynaudio CEO, Wilfried Ehrenholz would not be able to put things as elaborately as you just did! I'll tell him when I see him to hire you to replace Mike Manousselis as head honcho for Dynaudio USA.

One nice thing about the Contours is that you can upgrade the tweeter to the Esotar2, model E110 IIRC. The crossover is well suited for this so no worries there. There's a guy on AVS who has done this with great success and improves the performance of the Contour 3.4's nicely.
