That is also my understanding Rich. Your TV downconverts your blurays to 1080I. Still not a bad looking picture. It just can not handle 1080P input. Just change your DirectTV to output 1080I like it use to be and forget about the slight difference between the two. Unless you want to go buy a new TV.

yep- thats what i am about to do. started happening right in october when i got the new Genie from directv which is capable and set to 1080p so i'll have to uncheck it

but then what is up with the PS3 doing the same thing? I did recently do a firmware update so maybe that has something to do with it.

one step at a time

On another note, are you calling me Rich cause you think thats my name, or just pulling a piece from my user ID? Cause its actually Doug, the d in drichter, and 33 is Ewings jersey number. NBD, just noticed that in a few of the more recent posts.

NP. Dougie Fresh is also acceptable. And also, congrats on the ass whooping you put on us 2 weeks ago.

Anyway, I went home and this is what I did: (I am gonna copy and paste this to my personal thread as well)(also use short bullet points)

1. Turned on TV and went to channel 232 which is not HD. TV comes on NP
2. Tried to go to 206 which is ESPN HD- no image and same message
3. Went back to 232 so I could see the on screen menu and in settings unchecked the 1080p box (in the DirecTv HD DVR)

4. went back to ESPN HD and it came on. So I assumed the problem was fixed. WRONG.

5. I turned TV off and on and it still started off with a weak / no signal message. I went to the menu, it still was unchecked. When I tried out of curiosity to re-check the 1080p, it wont even let me now and automatically tells me my tv doesnt support it.

6. PS3 still has only audio.

so tomorrow I will be working out in morning, going to return presents at mall, then taking apart my HT and testing some wires before I make a major purchase.
