I skipped the 2nd playstation generation at the time. but with all the hd collection, is getting a ps2 now still worth it?
if yes, what ps2 games do you think that justify getting a console this late? (great games that won't likely get a ps3 release) |

To add on to what everyone else said, it's definitely worth buying. You have the benefit of already having access to so many classics for usually cheap prices (if you buy used anyway).

If you buy a PS2, and have a pretty good PC, you can be able to play PS2 games in HD. An emulator called PCSX2 allows you to play PS2 games in higher resolutions than what you'll get on a normal PS2. It can actually look better than many of the PS2 "Remastered" games depending on your hardware.

They only discontinued making the PS2 in Japan. Elsewhere it is still being made.

if you can find them cheap for PS3 that would better
I have decided to replace some games like DMC (1-3) with the HD Collection and some excellent DL only such as OdinSphere I would get a good PS1 (the first model that many would claim to be an audiophile CD player) to play PS1 games since I'm on my 2nd PS2 phat and I've always had problems with the launch playing PS1 games. Also PS3 can play them better but I have to an old school one for at least X-Files 4CD. if you can find cheap PS2 games then buy as many as you can they're fun you can always find something random but if its rare that means it'll cost ya a pretty penny

just wondering do they still sell new PS2? I've not seen a new one in years.
Maybe the last one I saw was the PS2 slim I bought about 2 or 3 years ago in Texas as backup but since then I can't even remember seeing any. At some point it will be compeltely out of production even for games but until that day come long live LIVE IN YOUR WORLD PLAY IN OURS. I still have my t-shirt though I can't wear it now

I decided to buy a ps2, even though I don't have a list of games that I want to play now, but the console is pretty cheap and I don't want to regret not getting one if the console and games disconnected (like how people are charging 200$ for ps1 games now) |

I find it really weird I can still find brand new PS2 games in Walmart.
At one point I was at a walmart that had PS1, PS2, PS3 and PSP games all at once. Of course the prices were ridculous at the time and luckily I waited for Legend of Mana to come down in price but they pulled them first for a few months. Next time I checked that walmart it was back on the shelf and I grab 2 but I ended up selling since I rarely play PS 1 games these days and collecting is almost stopped for games unless it's an anime game I must have or something.
