My my that is some nice cover art.
I'm sad that Dredd didn't do well in the States. It was a really good movie but for some reason you had to twist people's arms to see it. I told all my friends and they were blah about seeing it even though I knew they would love it. I want a sequel so bad it deserves one. Also a lot of theaters pulled this movie quick. I feel that it didn't even get the chance for "word of mouth" sales to kick in. |

I like the abstract red/black helmet cover. I really prefer the painting of Dredd and the city behind him. That looks epic. |

Bump Thread:
Dredd 3D will release this Tuesday, January 8, 2013. Amazon.com has it now for 19.99$ for the Blu Ray 3D, (with digital copy, ultraviolet). Usually these movies release for 24.99, so hopefully this is a new trend. List price is 39.99. Karl Urban did a nice job as Dredd. Olivia Thirlby as his sidekick also well played. Good action and 3D. Anyone get this on blu ray 3D yet or is it released everywhere Jan 8th? |

What would really be interesting is if this the direction Lionsgate is going to continue to go in with future titles - a single 2D/3D release instead of two separate releases. If that's the case, then we'll probably see more release week prices like this, at least for Lionsgate. |

2D fans may complain "I have to pay for the 3D version being included?", but with a 19.99 opening week price, hopefully they will be satisfied and possibly some of them, even consider 3D in the future. Quote:

Why? I'm talking about not releasing two completely separate sets just release one with either a 2D/3D disc or separate discs for each.

I just don't want 2d and 3d on the same disc.

The only reasons I don't mind one disc instead of two is a potentially lower price and less waste.
The only reason I don't mind two discs instead of one? You can fit more bonus content if you have two discs. If it's the same price on release day, then two discs are better than one. I wonder how many extras will be included on the 2D/3D version? Resident Evil Afterlife was able to fit a decent amount of extras on the one disc. |

Don't mind either way but a separate 2D is nice when somone else wants to watch. But they should stop releasing 2D only sets. seems a waste when the 3D has a 2D anyway.

I didn't pay attention to this movie when it was in theaters, but it was well reviewed on Rotten Tomatoes and given a thumbs up for 3D on Blu-ray.com. As a result, at $19.99, this became a day one blind buy for me.
It looks cool from the trailer! |

The 3D is pretty good in this. Not very consistent though. My only real beef with the movie is the costume Dredd wears. The actor who plays him looks really tiny in the bulky over sized costume. Sometimes he looks ridiculous, like a kid in a Halloween costume or one of the midget Hobbit doubles in the lord of the Rings. Other than that it is a must own for 3D collectors.
