Default Anybody else have a new Pioneer HTIB

Just bought this at Walmart for $268.00 plus tax. I think its a decent sound system. Last march I bought an Onkyo S7409 home theater system from Amazon. It had a recall from Onkyo because the one of the speaker terminals was broken. It also would drop audio for a couple of seconds on Dolby Tru HD tracks.

I returned that Onkyo system because I didn't want to take any chances with a crap system, even though it sounded amazing.

This Pioneer system doesn't sound too bad. I can definetly tell the difference between my 8 year old Sony HTIB that can only decode DTS and Dolby Pro II. However Im using this Pioneer for a small bedroom. Would not recommend it for a living room. Not powerful enough.

Curious what other people thought of it if they had it.

I just recently purchased this same system from Walmart and was very disappointed. I thought the volume was way too low. I had to turn it up to 60 to even hear anything. It was so weak that I thought the system was faulty and exchanged it for a new one. Same performance. I called Pioneer and they said that's low quality is normal for their low end HTiB. So I returned it.

For a bedroom, it will probably work well though. I went out on a limb and was looking for a bargain for my humble HT basement.

I have had this system for a week and I love it. I can only crank it up to 30 plus before I get told to turn it the hell down, lol. My freind has one as well and he hooked it up to his Tower speakers and holy crap! Talk about sound. You said you wouldnt reccomend it for a living room? His is in his living room and it delievers enveloping sound for being in a big room. I love mine and he loves his as well and for the price you cant go wong.

Thank god I got mine direct from BB. I wont buy anything electronics wise from Walmart, why? Because when I buy an electronic item from them it always fails in some way or another.

I forgot to ask you gafool and thats this......is everything connected to your reciever via HDMI or do you use Coaxial/Digital for sound? Let me know.

If your talking about watching regular tv I have Phase setting on and use Advanced Surround which gives you that theater feeling at least to my ears anyway. Advanced Surround uses all 4 speakers at once. I have been thinking of going to Coaxial for my regular tv watching and going the Optical route for Blu ray watching. To me Optical sounds no different then Dolby True HD or dtsHD when it comes to watching Blu's and useing Coaxial for regular tv viewing sounds no different then useing HDMI. I may leave the video processing to my HX750. Dont know just yet.

****Update: Just switched over to all Coax for Directv HD and Optical for Blu ray and the sound is the same as it was for having my set top box and Blu ray player hooked up via HDMI. The only thing I wont get is dts HD and Dolby True HD while watching Blu rays and if you ask me I cant tell the difference for sound anyway. So I will let my AV Reciever do the surround sound effects and let my tv do the video. Simple and easy. I'm happy.
