Does anyone know what would happen if a Red Box rented DVD was used for this service? Would it be flagged somehow or will it be like using any other DVD?

DVD marked as rental will be not be recognized.

I was also wondering if anyone had downloaded an earlier version of the disc to digital software before it only allowed for you to buy SD on movies available on SD. If possible can you upload this earlier software for me. I prefer the software for Mac but the PC version will be fine

My roommate got Final Destination 5 from Netflix not realizing I already had it on Vudu and Blu Ray so he could have just watched it from there. I decided to pop the disc in and see what would happen. It recognized my disc from the blu ray combo pack, but not the Netflix rental only disc.

Just and FYI for everyone. I was prompted to update my software and the release notes says it's out of Beta.

Yes. It doesn't look any different though. When I updated the installation file said the beta was over in the release notes. They also removed Beta from their help section on D2D. No announcement or anything. They just quietly ended the beta I guess. It actually works way better than Vudu's has lately so I'm not surprised. They don't have to worry about Blu Ray recognition though. If only they did Blu Ray they'd probably have the superior home D2D app. Vudu's is too spotty with the Blu Ray (and some DVD) releases. The sad part is the Cinemanow app recognizes all the blu rays inserted. It just won't let you convert them.

Yes. https://us.cinemanow.com/player/download

I've used the PC version and it works. The number of eligible movies is not as great as Vudu's, but it does read some that Vudu can't.
BluRays are not eligible.
$2 for SD $5 for HD

Is there a list anywhere of movies that work on CinemaNow that don't work on Vudu at-home D2D?

Just check for your self. A lot of the discs that VUDU fails to recognize will be recognized by CinemaNow & Flixster.

Cinemanow doesn't accept Blu-rays and Flixter cost 5.00 to convert Blu-ray to HD. Vudu only cost 1.00 if you do ten or more. I wish VUDU would recognize more, but you can always take them to the store and do it for 2.00.

Yes, vudu would be preferable, but for the ones it doesnt recognize i am hoping cinemanow will. I have plenty of credit there to pay for it, and I don't want to do vudu in-store because they aren't going to let me convert discs from the library, whereas I can do as many of those as I want at home.

unfortunately, almost everything I have that did not read on Vudu will also not work I'm cinemanow. That's why I was hoping for a list, because the "just try it" strategy is time consuming and so far pointless.
