hard to imagine that they got that many badly scratched that theyd have the product under review for so long....

surely it would have been noticed during manufacturing if they are as badly scratched as reported....

Mine looks fine but of course I didn't open the plastic wrap so I can't see under the slip cover. I bought a copy of the regular blu-ray from Target, the one with the can opener. So I watched that copy. In anycase I'm glad I have one. No need the Taiwan version or any other version. The artworks are the same.

Here's the replacement copy that is scratched but not too bad. The first one was a lot worse than this.

What's weird is the refund for shipping said the reason for refund was Incorrect Item. That was not what I said during the return process so maybe their system has a glitch or something

I ordered mine through Amazon.co.uk and it arrived in almost pristine condition. Would have been perfect if it weren't for a couple small dents in a couple corners. No scratches though.

Hey Everyone, I have now had 6 of these and they have all had either bad paint chips or long scratches on the back. All of these came from Amazon. I understand alot of people have had a problem with this steelbooks condition and it seems to be a manufacturing problem. I was wondering if it seems to be an across the board problem or if it seems to only be the steelbooks sent out by Amazon? If I was going to try another is there anything I should know to give me at least a better chance of getting a good one. Like should I try the Asian one, or the UK one but from HMV. Just wondering because the damage cannot be seen without openeing it. Any help would be appreciated. THANKS

I too received a copy of TED Steelbook from Amazon UK with some minor issues, however due to the on-going inavailability, they say an exchange for a new one will not be possible unless they sort out all the quality control issues.

From my understanding, did some research on this steel and turns out not only one batch of these steelbooks that slipped through QC but more like every single piece.

Got the Ted Steelbook from Play.com recently and there are two paint chips on the rear. A tad annoying, I suppose...but I just can't be arsed to go through Play.com's returns process, especially as the replacement could very well be the same.

Yeah I can handle a couple chips ($10 Best Buy Warner wave can testify to that), but the scratches that I had on the first one and sounds like samzach encountered as well were bad. 1.5 to 2 inches down to the metal. I don't know how something like that could pass Qualilty Control unless they weren't doing any.

I've had six - all with at least two scratches/chips on the back.

And now i've just ordered my 3rd Lawless - looks like the quality of steelbooks is getting patchy.

I just got mine. I purchased it through Amazon.UK from some reseller in North Carolina. It came in perfect shape. No scratches, chips or dents.

My new copy just arrived from Amz this afternoon- this is supposed to be the 'new stock' but the back is missing loads of paint. Going to return it and try 1 more time- if the next one arrives damaged then I'll just give up. Watch this space!
