I received another email from Lionsgate after going into detail about the playback issues some of us are experiencing:

I just ordered a copy from Amazon today. I was going to try to wait till all of these had their problems ironed out but I just couldn't wait any longer, I really want to see this movie. I hope by now Amazon got a fresh batch in.

I tried watching the UK Blu-ray in 2D tonight, but I gave up watching the disc (Insignia BD player(.
The audio dropouts, the picture jitter and stutter made it impossible to finish. I sent Amazon a complaint email and told them to tell the distributor that it's defective, demand a recall. |

UPDATE: No firmware updates for BX57 or BX58 yet. FWIW, my BX57 locked up with a red screen initially when I first inserted the disc. I then hit stop and it eventually stopped after a minute or so. After a soft power-off, it loaded fine and I played the main movie in 3D just fine from start to finish. The only issue I noticed was the DTS clip in the beginning had some audio drop outs but later it was fine...weird. I then just played the disc on my BX58 and it loaded and started playing just fine (albeit in 2D because it's in my bedroom). I didn't watch the entire movie but it looked fine. Other notables:

That's the scary thing with this movie. People aren't sure if their copy is ok or it's something in the encoding (video and/or audio) is causing trouble with players.
Since I watched the movie from start to finish and it rips ok on my PC, I believe my copy is fine. But my players could probably use a firmware fix to handle the little glitches. Last edited by tqhoang; 01-28-2013 at 02:02 AM. |

Inside the case? I meant the white security stickers that are usually on the outside of the cases. I believe that's the one that people are talking about.
We're just seeing if there is a correlation between the single & double white security stickers. At least if you had the double stickers, then you are likely to have a good disc...versus if you have a single, then it's a crap shoot. Glad your disc is working though. |

Answer to question 2) Mine had one strip of tape. BUT when I got my $$ back from Best Buy and re bought it at Wal-mart, the copy had one strip of tape on it as well and that copy worked fine.

I am just sitting here looking with dread at my Dredd blu-ray. Not sure what to do. Like I said before, I got mine the first day at best buy. Barcode is 0-31398 16376-3, it has two security stickers on it ( top and bottom ). I think I just might bring it in and have them open it up and play it. So many problems for one disc.

I have the US disc.....Does anybody else who has seen this in 3D notice some of the scenes in it look "inverted"??? I remember seeing it in cinemas, and the 3D was SPECTACULAR! Just watched it on my Optoma HD33 (Super 3D projector...no ghosting, so that shouldn`t be the problem) and some scenes looked just...wrong!
- MINOR SPOLER FOLLOWS - A good example is the shot early in the film where dredd chases the car with the drugdealers. It is a close up shot and Dredd turns off the bike and puts his foot on the ground....It looks BAD. Some scenes are GREAT....but once in a while, some scenes stick out like the 3D is inverted or something. Anyone else experienced this? |

So I purchased my first copy at BB on 01/11/13, a week or so after release and wouldnt even recognize disc. Exchanged it for another a few days later and guess what, same problem. Went back again a few more days later and exchanged again but this time tested it in store and still wouldnt work but this time the guy at the door and the girl at the register when exchanging it both instantly saw disc and said "not working is it". So figuring that since most others here with same problem got it from BB i'd have better luck elsewhere so went to Target and it worked fine, loved the movie. Great 3D.
FYI. None of the copies at my local BB had 2 security strips (as I checked them all) but Targets did, otherwise couldnt find any similarities or correlations. I have two 3D players, a PS3 and a Sony S590 and my BB discs didnt work in either. ![]() Hope this adds some good info or helps somewhat. Good luck to all. |
