Has anybody watched the latest South Park episode? Disney buying Star Wars was the main plot of the episode.

It's official.

J.J Abrams is the director of Star Wars Episode VII.

Not only has he demonstrated his sci-fi chops with Lost and Super 8, he has demonstrated an ability to resuscitate fading franchises with the well-received Mission Impossible III and the critically acclaimed Star Trek reboot.

Abrams will undoubtedly have the franchise’s best interests at heart.

Back in 2009, he said, “As a kid, Star Wars was much more my thing than Star Trek was.”

I can bet anything that J.J is going to deliver

. He knows what people love about the original material and not to mention his movies are really well paced. One of the few directors out there who can make a character driven film while still being highly entertaining with unique action sequences.
The only thing I'm worried about is that he might go the CG route. The O.T still looks GREAT as it was all miniatures. Maybe I'm old fashioned but sets, matte paintings and miniatures look more real to me than the best of the best CG. Prometheus looked stunning as it was real sets and miniatures touched up with CG. I hope they go the same route with the new Star Wars films.
I still can't believe they used CG clone troopers instead of having men in suits!

I know they have to be exactly identical but I'm sure they could have adjusted the height digitally. I'm thinking Disney having a low budget for this film would make the film better.

What do you guys think?

More interested in the story first. The other things are to support the story not the other way.

J.J Abrams , well , The last 30 minutes of the otherwise very good movie super 8 ruined the show for me , they were plain bland , i didn't like Star Trek Directed by him much, not looking forward to this movie then , not because of JJ Abrams for sure!

And Srini please dont ask details about why i didn't like those movies by him , watched them long ago and i just remember not liking star trek and last 30 mins of super 8 ! dont remember anything else about them , except for the train crash scene in super 8 which was wonderfully executed.

Where do you stand on Mission Impossible 3? But I gotta ask, are you into sci-fi? Cos if you aren't, you wouldn't have liked Star Trek regardless of the director. Have you seen Star Wars eps 4,5,6?

Yes, I'm into sci-fi and there are lots of Sci-Fi Movies i love ,Star Trek Was is one of them and sorry , havn't watched M.I 3.

I remember going nuts before Phantom Menace was released and we all know how that turned out. Not going through that again.
All excitement and judgement reserved till I see the movie. Poker face on.
