does anyone know if the denon 3808 can produce a 3d image though my 55hx850?
i know i have the proper hdmi cables and im using my playstation 3 as my bluray player?

The 3808 does not have 3D-passthrough based on my knowledge and research, sorry.

What denon receiver is about equal to the one I currently have ans has 3d pass through?

It looks like the 1912 or 1913 would give you 7.1 and 3D pass-through.

Also what's the differance between a amp and a receiver? They look alike

I believe the 1913 can do 5.1 surround and 2 channel in another room/area. Not too sure about the 1912. It just looks like the older model.

Most receivers have built in amps. If you look at Denon amps, it will pull up their receivers. An actual amp is what powers the speakers. Some receivers have inputs for up to 11 channels, but only power 7/9. You would have to buy an amp to power the extra speakers.
