hey gents, heard the ML SummitX today. very nice speaker, very clean with classical music. i thought there was a little bit of a disconnect between the woofer and mid/tweeter with more dynamic music(rock music), but they were very nice speakers. great mids

there was a guy auditioning the SummitX and some wilson duettes and sophia3's, so that was 2 hrs of my day today... love being in sales huh?! but the guy first was playing classical piano and it was fabulous, then gin blossoms or counting crows or whatever... and that is where I kinda felt like something was just amiss, I mentioned it to my dealer and he said what you said.

however if small quartets, female vocalists or classical piano without the big orchestra was my go to music, theyd be a consideration.

my dealer did have a pair of CLX on hand as well, but we didnt listen to those.

Well I bought a used Parasound hca-2003 amp today and I got home and it wouldn't power on. So the guy gave me my money back. So I'll see what to do now.

Paid $450.. He had the power supply fixed a while ago. He tested it while I was there. But when I got home and hooked it up and powered it on and it wouldn't come on. I tried different things. Just glad the guy gave me my money back.

Why not try the Crown XLS? You can pick one up at guitar center. If you don't like it, return it.

I may do that. What do you think of a Rotel RMB-1075? I know not the most power but probably much better than a receiver. It doe 200x5 at 4ohms

I just sold the 1095, it was an incredible amp. You're still not going to be feeding it enough power.

Not all watts are equal. Meaning wattage from a higher end brand is superior to more wattage from a cheap brand.

The 1075 is only 120 into 8ohm 200 into 4. Your speakers need double that at a minimum.
