The current area is a family room and currently open.
What I wanted to do is enclose the theater area creating two separate areas. The theater side dimensions are currently 11x17. I am adding a riser for the back seating constucted from 2x6's and there will be a sliding pocket door to access the theater. The other side of the family room is about the same demensions 11x17 and has a fireplace with a gas insert I will have a small sitting area around the fireplace will have a small wall counter on the back wall near the entrance with a small refridgerator and a sink. I will likely also add a 42-50" LCD to that side with a set of in ceiling speakers. My pocket door is in now. I did have to trim down the standard 7ft door down to 6ft 6" or so I won't be having any NBA players down watching movies but I am 6ft 1 this still works ok for me. I couldn't salvage the carpet because the dog decided to pee on it and rather than trying to clean the hell out of it I pulled it all. I think the previous owners had dogs too and getting that smell out was near impossible. i will be cleaning the floor very well before I deicide to put whatever back down over it. I am trying to decide weather to do laminate on the family room side or carpet in the whole area to include the theater.

Enclosed the inside area. The wood is discolored I picked up a bunch of recycled 2x4's from the local re-store here. It's basically 1/4 of the price of a new 2x4.
Once it's drywalled you never see it anyways. Door is also installed to the family room as well Hey sorry about the crappy pics I am using my crackberry to take the pics.

This is the latest.
I started hanging dry wall and the rear seating riser is framed out. Next is running some more cat 5 cabling. I will be adding two plugs in the front of the seating riser. I still have to figure out final placement of the speakers since I am reconfiguring the room.

Thanks
I bought 3 sets of led flexible strip lights and bought some more sheet rock and 3/4 board for the seating riser. It's coming together slowly. I plan on doing some more work on it tonight. I hate to skimp on the carpet however I have a budget so I might go with some cheaper shag roll reminants from lowes.

I have to stop getting distracted from my goal..
So walking though lowes last night I see this whirlpool jetted tub I had my eye on for a while. Normally it $524 and it's on clearance for $366. I am like holy hell I gotta get it. I used my military discount I got it for $350 out the door. It hurt my budget a little but it was a splurge well worth it for my upstairs bathroom that I need to replace the 1967 tub and the tender subfloor underneath the tub anyways so it's a excuse to do it. I think it's going to take about $1000 out of the theater budget total to fix the bathroom upstairs including the tub but it's gotta get done. I still have some other projects to get done like replace the old 80amp electrical panel which I have a 200amp all the parts to do it and to hook up. I also have a new boiler system to replace the outddated HB smith one... Projects never seem to end...lol

I bought them from LED wholesalers off amazon.com they are 16.4 ft long and they do change colors, flash and fade as well they come with IR remote controls.
I paid about $32.99 ea for the sets with the controllers and $22.50 ea for the additional light strings that hook to the light sets to extend the string. ![]() http://www.amazon.com/LEDwholesalers-Changing-Controller-44-button-3215/dp/B0040FJ27S/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1358419588&sr=8-2&keywords=led+light+strips

I had a about a week i couldn't get anything done in the theater. This week i tackled getting the rest of the dry wall up and some electrical and speaker runs. I'll get some more pics up.
It looks like this weekend is out had an emergency computer situation at work and now we are all doing overtime. It's good for extra money I guess however it stalls the wheels of progress.

Spent a good day at work doing virus remediation... Today is Super Bowl day probably won't do much work on it today either..
True the extra OT is dough for the theater.

The front stage in it's build stages
Framing done. Cavity filled with sand and when I ran out some insulation. 3/4 board installed lots iof screws. I think constrution of this thing I went through like 4 tubes of liquid nails. So the front stage is half done. I played around yesterday with throw distances and sizing from current placement of the projector and I think the best I can do is 122" at 16.5 ft Next is contruction of the wall for the new screen and building of the spandex screen and frame. I am using the matte white over moleskin silver spandex material for the screen. Ideally I would like to take up the whole back wall with the screen and that would give me a 137" screen. I was able to throw it but it is very close and if you are too tall in the front row your head would likely show pretty easily. I also factored in I am moving the screen a foot closer so ideally it is 16.5 ft from the screen which calculated I could do a max of 122"
