So, hopefully we'll still see this release for that reason alone. Unless the HD release does it. If there is one. Which I hope there is.
Good to read, thanks.

I'll buy them just because they're hitting Blu, though (and I can't wait for Roger Rabbit for that matter).

Beast's 3D was impressive IMO. Lion King I'd have to see again, unless the theater messed up the projection, it was only good 3D.

Who Framed Roger Rabbit's 3D I'll have to check out when the disc hits shelves hopefully later this year, 2013. They don't even have on blu ray yet. I haven't seen that movie since it was in theaters in the 80's......

There is no Who Framed Roger Rabbit 3D... People are just hoping for it.

The BD comes out March 12, 2013.

Roger Rabbit would be perfect for 3D.I also hope for both this and The Little Mermaid in 3D.

So did anyone get the Peter Pan blu ray? One of the trailers is for The Little Mermaid in 3D. It's the first trailer and it says "coming this Fall". Then the next screen that comes up is a blue "coming soon to theaters". So I am assuming it's only coming to video in 3D, or period, but it's very vague.

I am more than positive that if this wasn't coming out in 3D to blu ray, this trailer would have been removed. They had plenty of time? Or would they release a statement?

Makes me think we will definitely see it.

They had time to finish a 3D trailer, but we're not sure if they abandoned work on the conversion after the theatrical release was cancelled.

Okay, thanks fitprod. Good to know. Glad to hear it's actually arriving next month on video.

I think home video is likely. Theatrical releases cost a lot of money, but so does home video, but home video oftentimes does better than box office.

Yeah, I knew they cancelled the 3D theatrical release. I would have thought they would not put out a trailer on a new blu ray release if they had intended to cancel the conversion completely. That was my point. I think it proves that the 3d Blu Ray will still happen.

It's a good sign. I guess I'm just a skeptic. Did the trailer say something more conclusive about a home 3D version like "Coming to Blu-ray 3D this fall?"

Looking forward to a 3D blu.

Is there anyone here more motivated than me? Perhaps writing to Disney and asking directly, then scanning your reply and posting it, might end pages of speculation?

Definitely joining the hopeful group that wants this classic in 3D! Thanks for the heads-up.

That still refers to the Theatrical release schedule so a 3D blu ray might still be available for release. Depends how much has been converted. They may say conversion wasn't complete so release standard, 6 months later- They decide to finish converting (overwhelming feedback from customers/well we've converted half of it finish it and release to bring in money to pay for what they already spent) further 6 months the release the 3D Blu and then blame sales figures for against 3D
Feeling Blu?

Seems very unprofessional for Disney not to clarify that "The Little Mermaid 3D Blu-ray" will definitely be included in the announced cancellation. Words seem to be picked carefully even in February. Very frustrating.

I'm guessing we'll still see the 3D version on Blu. I read about the "cancellation" and how people inside Disney were still working on it even after they "pulled the plug" so to speak, and that they had come a long way already. Disney themselves haven't actually outright cancelled it as far as I know, just delisted it. We'll see in the coming months...

Ok here are the screen shots as they appear in order. One thing I want to point out is that the quality of the film looks terrible. I thought it was one of those "this is how it looks on DVD and here's what it will look like on BD" but it never changed. Anyway..

Sorry for the shadows - this TV is in a bright room and I am home for lunch. Also sorry I dont know how to make these smaller... I tried.

What if it came with a lenticular cover of the original artwork? Then that one tower would stick out that resembled a .. . meh... nevermind :P

This cancellation doesn't bother me, it's nothing I would have watched in the first place - no interest in it whatsoever. I am bummed for you all that were looking forward to it and I'll root in your corner for a BD3D release, I hope you get it.

A forum member confirmed a 3D release of some sort with their Disney contact.
