I have the collector's edition ordered for the PS3. I'm really stoked for this game. Alien and Aliens are two of my favorite movies. Ever. (In case you couldn't already guess that. )

That's what I'm doing too. From what I've seen/read about it, its hit or miss but I'm hoping it will be good!

I have been waiting for this game since it was announced in 2001 for PS2.

The fact that it actually gives us the story we all wanted to see for Alien 3, is even more exciting.

First day... will own.

I am, however not getting on launch day seeing as games literally drop 10-15 in the UK just a few weeks after release.

I got no issue with Alien 3 but it sure was nothing compared to Aliens.

I am actually a big fan of Alien 3 after watching the extended cut. Just at the time, when your idol was Hicks and you had so much emotion for Newt... it was a real bummer to find out they killed them before the first scene was shot.

Still ticks me off... I was like 13 at the time... lol

While I have high hopes for the game, I feel there has been too much basically ripped from Aliens, and won't be something original. I played the mutiplayer aspect of the game at PAX last year and was pretty disappointed but hopefully they continued to work on since that was five months ago. I am sure reviews will start appearing online soon.

Yup, I can't WAIT to play it next week. I'm a huge fan of the franchise and I preordered the CE for Xbox. Hopefully the game doesn't have too many ties to Prometheus because I'm hoping this game gets the bad taste of that movie outta my mouth.

And it's HR Giger's birthday today.

I felt the Assembly cut of Alien 3 made the movie much better overall, but killing those two characters off before the movie even began was a BAD way to start it off. IMO it's still not in the same league as the first two.

Of course on the flip side, given that Aliens came out in 1986 and Alien 3 hit in 1992, I suppose they would have had to recast Newt or else come up with some creative BS way to explain why she aged so much while in cryo-stasis. That wouldn't really have been a problem for Hicks' character though....

I'm not saying this to jump on you so please don't take this that way, but I'm always surprised by this notion. It seems if you go this route (retreading old material) then you get people who don't like it because there's nothing original. However, if you go the other way and try to introduce too much new stuff then you get the opposite camp who don't like it because it deviates too much from the established mythos.

I can't agree more. That movie sucked so bad. In the little microcosm I live in that movie does not exist, has nothing to do at all with the previous existing films, and will never pass over the threshold and defile my house.

Yeah, it was a drag that they died in the opening, but honestly it really helped give the movie its unforgiving tone. Even in interviews Fincher said he liked killing them off because he enjoyed taking away that hope from the audience and telling everyone "we're really fcked." Of course, it probably didn't help with people's enjoyment of the film, but...

And anyway it appears that in the game
[Show spoiler]Hicks comes back somehow. Man in the hood, anyone?

I'm rockox (o's, not zeros like my name here) on xbox, by the way.
