Hi all I was thinking of upgrade my screen and wanted to see what you think. Right now my biggest complaint is that I don't like the manual pull down as it has wrinkles in it and I just don't care for the look so for starters I want a fixed frame screen. Second I was thinking of maybe getting a better screen this time around and found a couple and wanted to see what you thought
First here is my current screen http://www.amazon.com/Elite-Screens-...itescreens+120 Here are the 2 i'm considering http://www.amazon.com/Elite-Screens-.../dp/B00366S0UW or http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Screen+I...3#tab=overview the screen innovations one is much more expensive, but is it really that much better ![]() As far as gain is there any downside to getting a higher gain screen? (other than it narrows your field of vision if im not mistake right?)

I have an SI screen and it is pretty good! Now is it worth the $$$, I dunno, but most people that have SI screens are pretty happy with them. I have the 1.3 gain performance and I was told by AVScience that it is actually closer to 1.4. I choose this because of my projector and I watch 3d films. I have demoed a few screens like Stewart, Dalite, SI etc and to me the SI looked really good with the Sony HW30AES. Now monoprice just came out with screens and I wonder how good those screens are?! But if you need more help, give Mike at AVScience a call and he can help you pick out a screen. He is active on AVS forums under AVSales5. This is my first FP setup and I have been happy with the screen for 8 months.
Good Luck!

Well mine was 3x the price of the Op's Elite choice for sale at Amazon, shipped. Like I said before even Monoprice sells screens. If the op is considering paying that much, he could take my opinion with a grain of salt or research SI screens on AVS forums. It is his money just like that is your opinion on how much to spend on a screen. Same thing could be said about any of my equipment that I bought, but as long as I am happy, that is all that matters.

I will add for the OP that most people will tell you that a screen is likely a one time investment unlike projectors that are likely to be upgraded more often. I for one have had the same screen and 3 different projectors already. Bill

Do you guys think for a fixed frame 16:9 120" that the SI that I linked in my first post is the best bet under 1000?

Knowing SI, I would say that is a nice screen, but I would shop around to see if you can get a better deal. Call avs science to see if they can beat it or at least match it.

Also screen material was important since I have small children that can possible touch the screen, so the Pvc material makes cleanup a cinch.

no small children to worry about in my case, looks like their next screen up is like $1500 for the same size, I would def. shop for a better price but being able to pick it up at the store would be nice rather than dealing with shipping it

I agree, but I really have issues with BB but that is another story. I will say I ordered mine from Mike at AVScience and he helped me pick one that suited my needs/equipment. Mine shipped direct from SI in Texas and it was made to order, so it took about 2 weeks to get it. They do a great packing job and I had no issues with damage or missing parts.

I want to know how these perform too! I do use monoprice for cables and everything else obscure for my HT room. I also use their HDMI extender, but I had to return the first unit and they sent me a new one. Customer service is pretty good with monoprice too.
I just read the reviews on that screen and people seem to like it...that is a wonderful price too! Hmm maybe if I flipped my HT room around I will buy one of those screens. Also if you look at their 150" fixed frame, they are sold out, so maybe monoprice might have something here.
