Do they put up extended shipping/handling times and wait to get the movie from SAE? Oh, I guess they just put the buyer name/address down when they order from SAE

I bet SAE could put a stop to that by only shipping to the address associated with a credit card or paypal if they wanted to..

Typically, licenses go out of their way to say you can't do that. For any typical video distributor, once the contracts expire you have to liquidate them off at production cost or less - otherwise, what good does setting a date do at all? They'll just run off X number of copies a month before the contracts expire and sell them for another several years!

There are sometimes loopholes, though; Twilight Time is the licensor, Screen Archives Entertainment is their distributor - different companies, even if some of the people running them happen to be the same. It's entirely possible that TT is under license not to hold onto copies, but SAE isn't - and if so, SAE could hold onto unsold copies of a title 'till Doomsday and not be violating TT's contract.

Well SAE ships first class so I imagine it wouldn't be that long of a wait for the seller to get it, 3 or 4 tops. Lots of sellers ship within 3 days. There are alot of those listings that I see. I saw a bunch of Blue Lagoons go on ebay for 65 or so.

But SAE will NEVER do the address confirm you mentioned. Again they don't care how their stuff sells as long as it sells.

After reading this thread I'm glad I set a reminder on my phone and picked up a copy. i tried at 4PM but the site went down. I got back on around 4:30PM and the site was up but running real slow.

From the looks of things I should have grabbed a couple. Oh well. Congrats to all who managed to snag a copy and good luck to those paying a premium later.

If anyone who has a copy of Fright Night wants to trade up even eventually I'm open to the idea as I am a bigger FN fan than Christine.

I think it's going to be a year or so before Christine gets that valuable.

There have definitely been limited edition soundtracks, whether released by Varese or Intrada or FSM, that have sold out in similar time frames. Some of those were 1000 or 1500-count releases, but others were 3000-count. Off the top of my head, an Intrada reissue of Silvestri's PREDATOR (3000-count) sold out in less than a day in 2010, as I recall.

Well, in short thanks for making my point. I don't really give a shit about the contract or what SAE's business model is. The point was to direct those people who are b*tching to actually physically speak to a person who might give a single gram of f*ck instead of clogging up the thread with nonsense.

I've been to their Facebook page and know its pretty much non existent. My post was to see if anyone actually called a phone number and spoke to a human being. Not that they give a shit what you're (and I'm not saying you yourself) complaints are. I was curious as to what a representatives response (whether they actually cared to give one) was.

What's unfair is that TT is letting the scalpers buy 10 copies each of titles such as Christine. It's very possible that at some point we could see TT selling all 3,000 copies in say 55 minutes. There would be no argument then that you're not screwing over the real fans who only want to buy 1 copy for themselves and can't even get through on the website to place their orders because of all the traffic and constant F5 refreshing going on.

The trend is very clear now with these horror and fantasy genre titles as each one is selling out more quickly than the last. There's no way TT should be allowing more than 2 copies per person, at least not for the first day or two that they are up for sale. After that let them open it up as much as they want and let those fuc*s buy a 100 of them a piece if they so choose. The fact that TT are not limiting things up front is a legitimate complaint. (10 per person is NOT limiting anything) This is a completely diffferent thing from someone who waited until Friday at 11:30pm to go online and buy one and then b****es and whines about it being sold out.
