This model has worked for them so far with soundtracks and something tells me they've never sould out a CD in 7 hours. People were absolutely livid about what happened with NOTLD and yet Christine was an absolute success especially with it likely to be a gorgeous transfer.

I bet SAE could put a stop to that by only shipping to the address associated with a credit card or paypal if they wanted to..

Typically, licenses go out of their way to say you can't do that. For any typical video distributor, once the contracts expire you have to liquidate them off at production cost or less - otherwise, what good does setting a date do at all? They'll just run off X number of copies a month before the contracts expire and sell them for another several years!

There are sometimes loopholes, though; Twilight Time is the licensor, Screen Archives Entertainment is their distributor - different companies, even if some of the people running them happen to be the same. It's entirely possible that TT is under license not to hold onto copies, but SAE isn't - and if so, SAE could hold onto unsold copies of a title 'till Doomsday and not be violating TT's contract.

Well SAE ships first class so I imagine it wouldn't be that long of a wait for the seller to get it, 3 or 4 tops. Lots of sellers ship within 3 days. There are alot of those listings that I see. I saw a bunch of Blue Lagoons go on ebay for 65 or so.

But SAE will NEVER do the address confirm you mentioned. Again they don't care how their stuff sells as long as it sells.

After reading this thread I'm glad I set a reminder on my phone and picked up a copy. i tried at 4PM but the site went down. I got back on around 4:30PM and the site was up but running real slow.

From the looks of things I should have grabbed a couple. Oh well. Congrats to all who managed to snag a copy and good luck to those paying a premium later.

If anyone who has a copy of Fright Night wants to trade up even eventually I'm open to the idea as I am a bigger FN fan than Christine.

There have definitely been limited edition soundtracks, whether released by Varese or Intrada or FSM, that have sold out in similar time frames. Some of those were 1000 or 1500-count releases, but others were 3000-count. Off the top of my head, an Intrada reissue of Silvestri's PREDATOR (3000-count) sold out in less than a day in 2010, as I recall.
