Haha, I can sure tell the difference between 35+ extra minutes and the theatrical versions.

You can already pre-order The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey (Bby) (Blu-ray Disc) from Best Buy. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Hobbit%3...7905061&st=the hobbit&lp=1&cp=1

Don't know yet if it will even be a Steelbook or contain the 2D only version or the 3D/2D Combo version.

What the hell is up with the pre order? This is getting frustrating.

It's pretty weird. All of the retailers are looking at each other. "We're going to gouge the consumer on this one, right?"

I know. I have theoretically ordered the 3D and standard from Amazon in those few hours when it was available, but now the links point to unfound pages and the newer product pages still have no pre-order or price.

It's supposed to be released in 4 weeks and there is no info about why there isn't a pre order available. You'd figure for a movie like this you'd see info about buying it everywhere.

Is there a problem with the transfers? Disc issues? Is it being pushed back? Ugh

If you want to pay the high prices, you can pre-order the hobbit through DVDEMPIRE.com. http://www.dvdempire.com/Exec/v5_sea...arch_refined=0

I finally broke down and contacted Amazon customer service about my preorders of both the 3D and regular blu-rays that I made in the few hours that they were available at the end of January. Hopefully I will hear some good news in the next twelve hours.

Just out of curiosity, here's the artwork for the 2-disc edition here in Brazil:

Not that I'm an industry exec, expert, or anything, but my collective wisdom is that if Warner planned to push the release date back, they would have done it by now though they hardly ever do so. Warner would notify the retailers at least a month and a half prior to the initial release window. Seeing that it is really close, it is extraordinarily, highly unlikely. However, I have "seen" Warner stall pre-orders in certain markets to insure they do not have a high demand situation they cannot supply. Once they have accurate numbers for their units, they contact retailers so they know how many they will have to successfully fill preorders. If anyone recalls, Warner ran into the problem with the Dark Knight Rises Bat Cowl Gift Set item with Amazon. Amazon had to suspend pre-orders because demand for that item overran supply.

I was thinking the same thing. Maybe they know they can't quite make enough.

For a standard theatrical cut blu-ray that didn't exactly wow at the boxoffice they should have no problem meeting demand.

Didn't wow at the box office? It has made over $300 million domestically (and close to $1billion worldwide) according to boxofficemojo.com. It evidently wowed enough people besides me.

While there have been a number of outspoken individuals who have expressed their displeasure from before the movie was even released, the overwhelming opinion I have heard from people I have personally talked with is that they loved the movie and will be making reaching for their wallets on the 19th of March,
