I ordered my projector tonight and where i ordered it from also sells onkyo.
The replacement for the 818 is going to be called the 929 and will be 9.2 channel, expandable to 11 at the 818 price point. Should be available to purchase around end of May early June.

I did not get any more details than that. Hopefully it will continue to have xt32?

I have an Integra 50.4 and love it. Is there a way to manually switch the audio between digital and analog? I have a laserdisc player and some disc's only offer analog sound. I have to disconnect the digital cable for the reciever to find the analog signal. It was very easy to do with my Pioneer reciever, there was an analog/digital button. So there must be an easy way with this reciever.

Should be in the setup menu. Source Setup then Audio Selector.... if its like the Onkyo's setup menus.

You most likely are getting the lossless audio if you are using HDMI cable , its just being decoded in the player. You can change that if you want by setting the player to bitstream instead of PCM. It won't make a difference audio quality wise. There may be a difference in volumes but that is about it, well and it won't say muti channel at the receiver.

OK so there isn't a button on the remote to press, I have to go into the setup menu. Makes it a little harder but I will check it out. Thank you.

There is a work around though, you can listen to an audio only source(CD for example) with out the video source being changed. So you can plug the LDP analog out into the TV/CD (PC may also work) analog in and keep the Digital plugged in. Pop in an LD with analog audio and change the source to TV/CD(or PC). The video will still play on the TV.

Do LD players not have DACs, you can't always output analog?

Are you using the AVR remote to control everything or something else?

I only use the remote for the receiver. It seems much easier to just unplug the digital cable to receive the analog source. They probably thought in this day and age you either run digital or analog but not both from the same source. I have older video games hooked up to my receiver with only analog sound and it plays no problem. It's when theres a digital and analog source into the same input that theres a problem.

The work around I proposed isn't difficult unless you are already using all the analog inputs. Just hook up the LD players analog to the TV/CD or PC input. When you play an LD with analog audio all you have to do after selecting the source input for the LD player press the TV/CD or PC button. To go back to digital press the LD players input source button again.

In audio setting on your BDP-S570

Audio(HDMI) set this to AUTO

BD Audio Mix Settings set this to OFF

You are using HDMI cable from the player to the 818 correct?

Why is it reading that way? is it the PS3? Did i do something wrong. When it was hooked up to my sony Blu ray it never read Multch and i dont seen to be getting my full 7.1 anymore either

The PS3 is probably set to output PCM (the player is decoding), change it to bitstream (AVR will decode). However it makes zero difference in audio quality. As far as the 7.1 issue , I have no clue.

you mean pcm and bitstream sound the same...what is bitstream anyway. I'm hooked up via HDMI also, if that matters

Yes they sound the same because in the end they are the same. The encoded data gets decoded into PCM. You may hear volume differences between the 2 if the player isn't level matched to the AVR. Other than that zero difference.

Bitstream is the compressed encoded data straight from the disc(has yet to be decoded into PCM) It is streamed to the AVR to be decoded uncompressed.

PCM is already decoded uncompressed(at the player) then is sent to the AVR.

Yes HDMI matters for lossless audio.

Does anyone use any of the noise reduction availible from your reciever? Or do you have everything shut off and just pass through the video?
