But otherwise I agree with you on what you said. 3D is amazing on the HX750 series from Sony.

I have one on order. I was looking at the Sony 950 they have one at my local ABC Warehouse on display both the wife and I liked the picture of the Sony from all the other tvs on display...picture popped. Elite 55" never seen one in person but was on my list. Samsung E8000 the 60" because most of the 60" models panels are made by Sharp and less problems of what I read in other forums. And a Panasonic VT50 plasma since I had a 10 year HP plasma that I'm replacing. I seen the Samsung ES8000 55" at BestBuy the picture was the best in the showroom but the wife and I agreed not as good as Sony. I know don't go by showroom displays BUT the Sony had style . So the 60" Samsung is close in price of the Sony 950 55" , within $300 of one another. Ruled out the Panasonic Plasma because I wanted the LCD panel this time. The Samsung ES8000 was a close second. The latest firmware on the Samsung has really improved the PQ according to all the forum info I have read. I will post my review next week of my Sony 950 and some pictures if you want me to. Can't wait for it to arrive.

DC Universe you can wait until the OLED TV comes out. This TV will probably destroy both plasma and LED TV's.

Picked up the set Saturday night and hooked up to my ceiling mount Sunday. Picture is excellent. Crisp and clear. I've used a couple of different settings from AV Forum settings thread. DISH HD channels are crisp and clear. Blu rays look excellent. I haven't tried any 3D movies probably this weekend. The smart features are ok on this set also. I don't really use that function of the set though I usually have my iPad close by. The menu is ez to navigate and change settings if needed. So far very happy with this purchase. Watching sports is great. I have no banding, haloing or flashlighting. Black levels are excellent on the 950. The picture was taken using my iPad so not the clearest photo. BB pm'd Amazon and beat Amazon by around $15.

Nice but its hard to look at the pic being its upside down! Its ok it happens to all of us once and awhile.

Thats the way i have the tv mounted, upside down. I don't know why it loaded upside down. I'll get out my camera tomorrow and take a few decent photos. That was a "dud". I'll do better

When I was shopping around and at Pauls TV the salesman (he was actually quite informed-he frequents a couple A/V forums) at the time my choices were the Sony 950, Samsung ES8000, Elite and Panny VT50 which is a Plasma. He recommended a Panasonic LED because of the quality of the panels. I forget the model #. I did a search for reviews and not many came up but I heard part of the problem was Panasonic didn't advertise or push the tv that well. But he spoke highly of the Panny LED. I ended purchasing the 950 Sony. That Panny you listed on Amazon is rated highly. Do you have a Pauls TV nearby? Go look @ the Panny LEDs in person. I know for the price you or I would be happy.

I read over on the AVS forum that you put your tv on Shop Mode and you almost burned your eyes? lol I told you that "person" that made that suggestion was full of it. I really hope you turned it back to Home Mode buddy because I dont wanna see you ruin your tv.

yeah i have been eyeing this tv for about a month or so. it keeps dropping in price and i'm almost ready to pull the trigger. i currently have a 50 inch Toshiba LED that was a deal of the day at Best Buy about a month ago that I can still return. Thinking about returning it and getting this one. The Panny LED is a sweet tv at a sweet price. they also can use the Samsung 3D glasses so you can get cheaper ones if needed. I think they are around $20.

Yeah back in home mode...I didn't realize retail defaulted to basically vivid mode. This ole' man thought what a difference. But what if I left in retail and then used custom settings like IMRIZZO settings. That wouldn't hurt would it?

I really don't know if it would hurt or not but if it were me I wouldn't even think of it. They have Retail Mode on tvs for one reason and that's for store use only. But it's up to you buddy, your tv.

Maybe I'm thinking on this too much. With all the laws to make the sets energy compliant what if Sony added retail just so consumers have a work around? What do you think? Just throwing that out there.

Browni I don't think Sony intended that at all. They have to follow the laws just like other manufacturer's do and if they break it they are in trouble buddy. You're friend over on AVS is full of it if you ask me. In the end though Browni its you're tv and if you want to use his settings and your happy with them that's all that matters.
