Two interesting things tonight

1) The Mavs were up by 25 pts @ Memphis in the second qtr... but then only scored FIVE points as a team in the 3rd qtr, and lost the game... yes, FIVE pts as a team!

2) the Suns, owner of the WORST record out west, just beat the Spurs in SA... the interesting part is, the Suns held the Spurs to just ONE point in the entire OT period!!! i think that is a new NBA record!!

I remember following the score for this game earlier when the Mavs were up big, and here I was thinking that they were on their way to an easy win tonight. And then I returned to the game about 30 minutes later to find they've only score 5 points in the 3rd and have relinquished a huge first half lead. I couldn't believe my eyes.

Anyway, this definitely proves that the Mavs don't belong in the playoff picture this year.

i cant go to a knicks/yankees game and not get a few beers....its harder at yankees games because its usually hot out when i go...

Lee walked away from the whole thing and got a suspension. Hibbert was only responding to others, and not even overly violently (although I admit watching him throw Curry was funny).

Klay Thompson, the guy who actually caused the thing to go in the stands by pushing Hibbert only gets a fine.

Curry, who pretty much caused any escalation there may have been, also gets just a fine.

David West, who looked like he was taking shots at people, gets nothing.

What is the NBA thinking? Are they just trying to re-affirm they don't actually have any punishment rules?

they basically want to make an example and just suspend 1 player from each team...those players being the guys initially involved...

plus, i was hearing that D. Lee was actually hurt and might have sat out anyway? so maybe the league threw him in knowing he wouldnt play anyway, something along those lines??

What's interesting is that Chase Field, where the Diamondbacks play and which is down the street from the Suns arena, has the cheapest beers (and concessions in general) in Major League Baseball, with a 14 ounce domestic draw beer costing $4. They keep their concessions cheap to try to get more fans to come to the game, which is a tactic the Suns should probably try since they're 24th in average attendance.

Former NBA star Dennis Rodman met North Korea's Kim Jong Un on Thursday on the third day of his improbable journey to Pyongyang, telling the leader "you have a friend for life," a delegation spokesman said.

Rodman and Kim sat side by side at an exhibition game in Pyongyang, chatting as they watched players from North Korea and the United States play on mixed teams, Alex Detrick, a spokesman for the New York-based VICE media company, told The Associated Press.

Kim, a die-hard basketball fan, told Rodman he hoped the visit would break the ice between the United States and North Korea, Detrick said. Kim later invited the Americans to dinner.

The encounter makes Rodman the most high-profile American to meet with the young North Korean leader since Kim took power in December 2011, and takes place against a backdrop of tension between Washington and Pyongyang.

North Korea conducted an underground nuclear test just two weeks ago, making clear the provocative act was aimed at sending a warning to the United States to drop what it considers a "hostile" policy toward the North. The two countries fought each other during the Korean War, and do not have diplomatic relations.

Rodman arrived in Pyongyang on Monday with three members of the Harlem Globetrotters basketball team, VICE correspondent Ryan Duffy and a VICE production crew to shoot a documentary for a new HBO TV series.

The surprise visit by the flamboyant Hall of Famer known as "The Worm" makes him an unlikely ambassador at a time when North Koreans are girding for battle with the U.S. Just last week, Kim guided frontline troops in military exercises.

The Korean War ended in a truce in 1953, and the two foes never signed a peace treaty.

Thursday's game in a packed gymnasium ended in a 110-110 draw, with two Americans playing on each team alongside North Koreans, Detrick said.

After the game, Rodman addressed Kim in a speech before a crowd of tens of thousands of North Koreans, telling him, "You have a friend for life," Detrick said.

The leader later plied the group with liquor, according to VICE TV producer Jason Mojica.

"Um ... so Kim Jong Un just got the (hash)VICEonHBO crew wasted ... no really, that happened," Mojica wrote on his Twitter feed from Pyongyang.

Duffy later invited Kim to visit the United States, a proposal met with hearty laughter from the North Korean leader, Detrick said

I hear ya. Nothing's better on a hot day outside than a cold one. I just wish that some of these teams would make it a little more affordable. Oh well, it is what it is.

That's pretty awesome. That's something the Marlins could learn from, as they have some of the worst concession/food prices in baseball, since they opened their new arena.

Not surprised a beer at Magic games is near the bottom of the league in price. Even when the team was really good the price wasn't bad compared to other pro sports events I've been too. And really you can load up before the game for less. Before many games there's a beer and Bacardi stand with $2 or $3 beers and mixed drinks.
