We'll have no idea until it's put to the test. Or Microsoft watches you test it!

I am actually really curious about this too. The 360 was a pretty poor player for DVDs and HD DVDs(don't laugh). I have heard that the fan noise will be cut down and so it will be interesting if the Audio/Video qualities will be on par with the PS3.

Admittedly it'd be short-sighted for it not to play blu ray films but conversely, the Wii U has a blu ray format drive and that can't play films.

Well I don`t think MS will leave movies out of the picture, since they want the One to be the center of the livingroom entertainment...

The Wii can't play DVD's either (without being hacked since Nintendo doesn't want to pay any royalties/fees for disc playback) while the xbox 360 can. I think it's safe to say that the Xbox One will play blu-rays just fine. I'm pretty sure MS has said it's a full functioning blu-ray player and I bet it'll even play 3D bd's.

IT was noisy for sure, but it would play any damn thing you put in it. I have some burnt DVD's my S790 chokes on, my 360 plays them like a champ.
