Just my own $0.02

So I will probablybe picking up one of the Target releases. And I hope it's additional disc content is not just "early press kit"/advertising.
+1 on that one.

The 3D Target release, regardless of the less-than-stellar slipcover, seems like the way to go.

One thing I'm curious about, however, is the quality of the Target supplemental materials.

If they are on a par with the 2009 movie, it'll be an absolute pleasure on Blu.

Another thing I'm curious about, is the menu interface design on the discs.

The 2009 movie had some real nice menus in the style of the Enterprise shipboard computer system UI. If they keep the same style, or evolve it some, it would provide a level of presentation consistency that I would appreciate.

In any case, there is a gap on the shelf that will be filled.

Actually, I'm curious as to when the 3D version of the Target Exclusive is going to come on pre-order sale.

I'll have to ask them.

Is the Target exclusive for STAR TREK Into Darkness just a slipcover that's different from the regular cover art or is the regular coverart different from the regular release as well?

Absolutely not. This will allow for more video bitrate which will result in better picture. Granted they actually do this.

Knowing Paramount, they won't be using a higher bitrate on the Target disc!!!

Also, Best Buy is digital download in the US, not a physical disc.

The BestBuy content can be accessed for free without a purchase. Watched them that way on my PS3 last night. Not too bad actually.

That's why I'm going Target, get the most physical media bang, while watching the rest digitally.

The Digital Copy code will give me the commentary via iTunes.

Slip cover might be ditched, depending on the artwork it's covering.

So there is a difference. Damn!

What sucks is that down the road there WILL be an ultimate set with all of these features together and probably the IMAX version of the movie.

Nobody should buy the BB version for the extras. Just click here and you can watch them completely free.
