Going with the Target version. I have a $2 off coupon to sweeten the deal. Now trying 2 decide 3D or 2D. I don't have a 3D TV so I'd just be future proofing if I go that route. The 3D review on this site doesn't seem 2 be all that impressive. Any other opinions?

Can't decide either between the 2d or 3d version. Opinions?

I'm kind of a completist and like the idea of Future-Proofing... I'm a sucker for getting the 3D Combo Pack rather than buying the 2D version now, then rebuying it in 3D down the road when i get a 3D TV. I'm planning on rebuying all the titles I have that get a 3D re-release. I'm only avoiding the really terrible ones if I can help it.

Do you have a 3-D TV? I suppose that is the main deciding factor. I've got the ES steelbook but selling the 3-D disc as I don't need it. Also brings down the overall cost and not having 3-D written on the cover it lets me make up my own special edition.

Mine just shipped.

It'll be interesting to see how it's packaged.

I hope the bonus features are packed in the case, and not in a slipcover.

2D.. 98% of 3D BD's have altered colors.. and incorrect framing. I would avoid the 3D BD's even if I was a 3D fanatic.

I always swap cases so I can include the bonus disc inside...

FYI: Save 10% off Into Darkness at Target with their Cartwheel App (plus another 5% with RedCard).

I just went to my local Target and the slip did NOT look like the one in the ad and in this post. It was a see-through slip with the black wreckage from the poster with Khan standing in the center, except this time Kahn isn't there. Instead you see the cover of the physical case through the wreckage, which is a close-up of Khan and three of the main good guys.

Perhaps that was "another" slip for this release and the Target exclusive just hadn't been put on the shelf? I actually like the white one in this post much more than the one i saw.

Pleeeeeeeenty of copies of the Target exclusive STID in the front (display) and back of the store. There were many 3D exclusives, but less than the 2D exclusives. All at my store were in "plastic coffins" and some were pretty scuffed up. I got the only one I thought looked good enough, come to find it was messed up on the bottom of the back side of the slipcover. they had 2D and 3D non exclusive versions, the regular 2D slips all looked bunched ip in the plastic coffins (get those at another store if you can). Cartwheel has a 10% off coupon, and I typed the Digital Copy code directly into iTunes and the extras came up with it, so we all have the "IMAX version," too bad about the commentary being iTunes exclusive and forced over the IMAX version.

Disc 1 is the main feature by itself.

Here's pictures of the Target exclusives (both the 3D and the 2D). The 2D isn't for me, so I haven't opened it. The exclusive 3D version is in a thicker case (the standard 3D version is in a normal Blu-ray case).

3D/2D side comparison (The 2D slip isn't actually taller than the 3D. They're the same height. It just wasn't pushed down all the way):

And I can confirm that all of the features are on the bonus disc at Target. The 2D feature disc only has the film on it (along with some previews). I'm not in a position to check and see if it's a different, larger encode (like with Best Buy's M:I 4 exclusive), but hopefully it is.

Can anyone confirm that there is a $10.00 coupon for future Paramount Blu-ray release in the Exclusive Target 3D version of Star Trek Into the Darkness.

There's no $10 off coupon. The sticker reads "up to $10 off on future movie purchases."

The $10 comes from the fact that there are five $2 off coupons, one for five specific movies (G.I. Joe: Retaliation, Pain & Gain, World War Z, Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters, and Jack Reacher). Expiration date is 11/23/13, and they're Target-specific coupons.

But yes, those coupons are included with the 3D and 2D exclusives as well as the standard editions at Target.

2D vs 3D

Thank you. People seem to forget movies in 3D are washed out and darker.
