That sucks. They also have Fright Night. Another movie I would love to see in the Scream Factory archives

The easy answer, and a company like Scream is EXACTLY the kind of company to do it...

Assuming they can locate film source and gain access to it... make a new transfer of Night of the Living Dead with the consultation of George Romero. Get his input and make some minor changes with his approval that would allow them to have a unique/copyrighted transfer.

Then... while they have hold of Mr Romero... get him and Tom Savini and whomever else they can grab to talk about the movie and create some new extras.

Why would Mr Romero agree to such a thing? He lost the rights through an accident himself in the original print... so this would enable him to have his hands in the copyright of a new edition and to get some royalties from this release.

It seems like a huge win-win all the way around to me.

Scream is exactly the kind of company who would care about a film enough to do all this... and I can't believe they would not sell enough to make it worth their while and to engender fans who have long felt for Mr Romero's inability to get royalties for his first zombie film.

We all want to see it... and would love for Scream to do it.

No.

A) it wouldn't be unique. TWC practically mangled the film to get it to where it was copyrighted.

B) Trust Me and Everyone else, including the people who run Shout.
It's not gonna happen now, and most likely never will.

C) See my previous posts for more info on why not.

Thank You, Goodnight! R.I.P. This Undead Topic...

But I love the enthusiasm surrounding the film, its just there is no simple solution.
Its unrealistic to think they're gonna do it.

Not what I meant. I meant studios are going to run out of newer movies to release, and will eventually have to delve into their archives and release classics.

Right... but they often get celebrity fans involved in retrospectives... and Tom Savini is like an uber-fan in that he worked with George Romero on the 1990 remake and a script largely identical to the original... My point was get anybody who likes to talk Romero Zombies in for a documentary.

Would love for this to come true, unfortunately we are likely to see 8-10 iterations of the same films they have already released on the way there and it may be a very long time.

Would you have any interest in releasing NOTLD? It woul definitely put your company on the map! Not that you aren't one of the best labels out there already.

Stunning. Although I'd prefer the Anchor Bay art.

If SF released a nice blu-ray of the original NOTLD, I would definitely bite as I am sure many others would. I mean it's NOTLD!

I haven't watched any of the Witchboard films before (Only being familiar with them through the VHS box art when I was younger), I plan on picking up both Witchboard 2 this year and part 1 next year when it releases. For those that have watched both, are the films related/linked? Would I be ok watching Part 2 first (since it's being released this year), or does part 2 continue the events of part 1 meaning I should save it until i can watch them in the correct order?

The Happinet edition is excellent, as has already been extensively covered.

But the Happinet has two commentaries in addition to the 'Fire' doc, and has a higher bitrate than the Optimum, which likely makes a difference on a larger screen.
