My copy of Pacific Rim just got here from amazon that I ordered on Thanksgiving. Fast shipping and it has a holographic slip with the DVD combo and special features. I am pretty impressed I figured it would only be the single disc edition, no slip or any specials.

Just watched the blu. Looked great.
Good movie. Not as bad as I was expecting nor as awesome as I was expecting (story wise)
My only problem with the story was the date/year; when did it take place? It seemed too soon for mankind to have been able to make such tech. I could see if it was 2107 or something...

Thanks!
Ghosting is a display issue. My single chip DLP shows zero ghosting, but if I were to play PR on my JVC it would be ghost city!

Pentecost sort of explained that they
[Show spoiler]rushed the Jaegers together. They did it so fast that they didn't have time to worry about radiation shielding.

Yeah.. I recall that.

But what year did the bulk of the film take place? Five years from now?

Like iRobot and Minority Report are around 2035 to 2055 (if I remember correctly). Elysium is like 2180...etc

When does P.Rim take place?

I think the movie was supposed to be in 2020. Gispy against Knifehead was 5 years before.

They did explain that resources were pooled together from all over the world. And especially in times of war, technology vastly improves within a short span of time.

I liked this film enough to pick it up at Best Buy on Black Friday for $8, but it would have been a much better film had some of the characters received a bit more serious development and growth. I realize the entire point of the movie is to watch mechs battling monsters, but a bit more care in this department would have done wonders for the movie as a whole.

I guess what I'm saying is that large portions of plot and characters felt rather one-note. I realize that's necessary in some respects for a film of this type, but I also can't help but think it could have worked so much better.

Maybe I'm just spoiled due to Toro's other works where obvious care was taken with respect to characters and nuance. Not that "nuance" is a word that's often associated with "mechs and monsters uppercutting each other", but why couldn't it be?

Still, either way it's a fun film.

Loved this movie. Not perfect but a great action film. Was it just me or did anyone notice the cameo of G1 Optimus Prime truck mode? I've been searching on the net nothing.

I just watched it for the first time a week ago and I loved it!! So much so that I bought the Blu-ray for $7.99 from Amazon. That was great timing lol, now I just have to wait for Amazon to get more back in stock.
But the thing that makes Woody special, is he'll never give up on you... ever. He'll be there for you, no matter what.
