Amen to that. I really see no point in double-dipping just for steelbooks. There aren't any new special features. And if you got the first Blu-ray release of the franchise back in 2009, either on DVD or Blu, you already have the iTunes digital copies. And I went through hell and back just trying to find OOP slipcovers for the first 3 movies that I got together in the trilogy set. The slips look a lot better than the steelbooks that I saw on Black Friday.

Universal did this same stunt with the first 3 Bourne movies last year. Target offered the first 3 in steelbooks. That's was the only thing special about them. I saw no need to replace my Bourne movies from the trilogy pack. I didn't flinch then, and I'm not flinching now with the Fast and the Furious.

I'll survive with the regular slip.

Is the regular slipcover the same at all retailers?

For those with some severe packaging OCD, it seems the only way you'll be able to have a fully matching collection is to invest in the steel editions of ALL 6 once the latest film drops next Tuesday. I've seen these editions and they look great no doubt about that, but can I please knock it for one thing. Why in hell did they make these steelbooks 2-disc editions and include a DVD when the July 2013 re-releases with those nifty slipcovers were exclusively bluray? It makes no sense to me honestly. We are clearly buying it for the bluray anyway. Oh well, it will be interesting to see how Universal releases the bluray of "Fast 7" lmao.
If you bought the Fast and the Furious blu-ray trilogy release in 2009, as well as the Blu-ray of the Fast & Furious 4 back then, you're all set. The re-releases by Universal are bordering on crazy. They're simply releasing the same old Blu-rays with flashier packaging to tempt people to spend money and double-dip. It's simply not worth it.

Or just for people that don't have them yet to have them all match.

Should I go for the steel or the regular slipcover? Just to note I have the re-issues with the numbers on them (1-5)

Only problem with these steels is when next 2 parts come out, there is no guarantee they will match the others.

6 will match, but anybody's guess if 7 will.

I'm just glad I don't collect Steel Books and only care about owning 5 and 6. Saves me a lot of headache.

Looks like I will be picking up all the steels from Best Buy. I only own Fast Five and have wanted to get the rest of the films (well maybe not 2) for awhile now. This seems to be the best way to go.

I don't own any of them and have been wanting to purchase them all for a while now…so I probably will get all the steel books. Kinda wish I bought all 5 on black friday without the slips that ay I would get Fast and Furious 7 with the slip but I'd toss it aside to match the others…still may do that. Probably cheaper that way too.

Too many pages to go through, so forgive me if this has already been answered. But does this come with an iTunes AND UltraViolet code like all the previous 5 did, or is it just UltraViolet?

Steel can rust. Both are the same price ($19.99) so it's not a matter of cost, rather preference. If it was me, I'd get the regular one, especially since you have the numbered ones (non-steel). So if you want them all to match....

Was in the mall today and passed by a used video games/movie store. On their Blu-ray rack I spotted this!

I figured somebody who works at Target or Best Buy or something probably swiped a copy, watched it, then sold it. Oh well, I gain from this. I saved a couple bucks and I STILL got it early!

That said, I saw a commercial after getting home for the release. No flashy action sequences. Just showed Paul and the team and the announcer told everybody that if you buy the release a portion goes to Walker's charity, and what they do. Very tasteful promotion for this movie based on what happened. I feel bad that I won't contribute but I was already thinking of donating anyway, so now I definitely will.

Technically they won't match because there is no "6" on the cover.

I'm sticking with the standard Steelbook because I've already decided this is the only F&F blu-ray I'm making an exception for, due to the fact that it is black & white which is completely different from anything we've seen from the franchise's packaging thus far. When Fast 7 and potentially Fast 8 comes out, I'll make my decision from there. But I'll sleep easy knowing that the color of this Steelbook is everything I wanted it to be.

I love it when an Extended Edition is included, and it's only like 4 mins, lol.

It's not the length that counts, but what they do with it...
