With those kinds of net losses, is it even worth having the Olympics contract? I wouldn't think so.

Ah... I was assuming based off the cheering and ESPN indicating the US had just recently entered.

It's not funny; it's damn impressive. He crashed and wound up back on his board.

i know I just hope no one else gets the impression that it's something to laugh at cause it could've ended very badly, it's one of the most dangerous events

I actually agree with your reasoning for why Marty should be on the squad. There is no question Stammer and Marty have great chemistry on the ice. And that's not something to take lightly. On the bigger surface, speed and anticipation matter, and chemistry gives you that edge.

However, I think there is definitely something the public doesn't see. When I see Stammer, Bugsy, Purcell, Herman, Bishop and the rest of the guys around town, and at the Brandon Ice Forum, they're all really cool. But, I get the feeling Marty is being nice because he's supposed to be nice. He has a sizable chip on his shoulder, and I've seen some of the players roll their eyes at him on the bench.

Something definitely kept him off that team, and this is just my hunch.

Great post Ferris. I hope all of you lads read his post as it summizes Marty's lack of popularity on the club. I'm also sure that there is some things we don't know about between Marty and Stevie "Y". I think he'll be in our top 3 of scoring and, as has been mentioned, has a major chip on his shoulder, which bodes well for the Red Leafers.

Not all that impressed with Russia's opening ceremony thus far. Call me a traditionalist, but I like to see the athletes come marching into the stadium. I wasn't a fan of the way Russia decided to bring in the athletes. I do like all the history lessons, by far the strength of the show. (the history major in me coming out). They are omitting a few key events in Russian history though...

Great first run by Sage Katsenburg (USA) to win GOLD in Slopestyle Snowboarding.

Staale Sandbech (Norway) wins SILVER.

Mark McMorris (Canada) earned BRONZE.

I really enjoyed this event.

Gotta love it when the favored to win the race talks trash then ends up with a bronze.

And on that note I'm out of this thread until the games are over since it will be riddled with spoilers.
"The Minneapolis Lakers moved to Los Angeles where there are no lakes. The Oilers moved to Tennessee were there is no oil. The Jazz moved to Salt Lake City where they don't allow music. The Oakland Raiders moved to L.A. and then back to Oakland; no one in Los Angeles seemed to notice. Continued expansion diluted the talent pool, forcing owners to recruit heavily from prisons, mental institutions, and Texas."

While watching the opening ceremonies, I couldn't help but laugh at Ireland's outfits. They looked like a bunch of IRA extremists! All they needed were some AK-47's strapped around them.

I didn't particularly dig USA's "Ugly 80's Christmas Sweater" look either.

It actually sort of reminded me of The Hunger Games! Pretty ironic considering there's probably not much difference between President Putin and President Snow.
