Summerslam 89 the tag team match... damn it makes me miss guys the gimmicks larger than life like Macho Man, Warrior and Brutus Beefcake !!!!
I think he's referring to the tag team cage match from the December PPV. A couple days after Christmas in 1989, No Holds Barred debuted on PPV. Since the film was viewed as a bomb that couldn't draw PPV buys on it's own, it was advertised as No Holds Barred: The Match/The Movie. After the movie was finished, WWF aired a pre-recorded cage match between Hogan/Beefcake and Savage/Zeus to blow off the feud and more or less end Mr. Lister's tenure with the company.

What special features does the UK Blu-ray have? The Image disc is likely to have none...

After years of thinking this would never see the light of day on any format, I scooped up the DVD on day 1. If this Blu-ray includes decent features, I may be willing to upgrade as the existing DVD contains nothing more than a photo gallery. "No Holds Barred" is a childhood favorite, and admittedly a guilty pleasure of mine. It would be great to see the WWF matches that helped promote the film.

Agreed. I recall seeing this at the theater in '89 and renting on VHS several times as a kid, but I would much rather see RAD or My Science Project on blu-ray. Will probably buy this anyway as I love 80's cheese and it gives me hope for other movies on my bd wish list.

I recently got a 35mm reel from No Holds Barred (think it's the second to last one, don't have any way to view it right now.)

Photo Gallery

I have the existing DVD, but thinking I may have to upgrade as this is indeed one of my guilty pleasures! The bonus matches are a nice addition. Would've loved to see the "mockumentary" WWE produced to help promote the film where Hogan and Zeus stayed in character talking about how they despised each other off-screen as well as on.

Looks good! Loving that we're getting a DTS HD 5.1 option. Now let's hope we get a good transfer.

Thanks for posting.

When I found out that NO HOLDS BARRED was coming to BluRay I couldn't resist having a custom VHS Retro Style Cover made (By Nissen) for my friend Russell, who is a huge fan of Wrestling and Hulk Hogan, using the original Movie Poster and a special Logo:

Great news. I was bummed out when WWE only released the DVD a while back.

So cheesy. So awesome. I wish they would put out another movie like this over The Marine 8 or whatever they are on now. I guess they tried with that Big Show one.
