no, in the DVD era we had Dolby Digital 5.1 384kbps and now we have Dolby Digital 5.1 640kbps. We can't complain though, as long as they don't re-dub the movies (as they've done with Little Mermaid and and and the Tramp) all is well
Thanks for theinfo. Was there any particular reason they re-dubbed them?

No official explanation was given, but from the info I've gathered over the years, The Little Mermaid, Lady and the Tramp and the Incredibles have been re-dubbed in a lot of countries. I am sure the reason is not due to damaged source files or something like that, cause the recordings (especially for the Incredibles) are recent. it should have something to do with copyright

you can imagine that George Lucas' changes in Star Wars are nothing compared to this

Very interesting, obviously I don't deal much with this being in America. (except for the anime I watch). Interesting to hear about things like this that I otherwise wouldn't have a clue about.

I thought so. Thanks for confirming my suspicions, Wasim.

Tarzan
Video: 4/5
Audio: 3/5
Extras: 2/5

Tarzan is a pretty basic release. The video quality is above average, but there seems to be something "off" with the picture. I'd say it uses the exact same transfer as the HDTV-rip available (without the edge enhancement + added contrast). No lossless audio is a let-down and the extras are laughable. I hope the UK and US get a better treatment.

Considering the US hasn't even announced it. I would assume that they are doing more with it. Of course, this is purely speculation.

EDIT: re-uploaded everything, they should work fine now. I suggest using rapidshare cause youtube further reduces quality

I captured these small clips off of the blu-ray using some freeware just to show you the problems I'm talking about, if there is a problem with the forum I'll remove them. Some loss in quality should be expected since this is not the blu-ray but I think they will do.

Notice his hair during this instance. When playing it's not very clear, but that's the texture I'm talking about. Pause the clip, it becomes more noticeable then.

https://rapidshare.com/files/3672653907/Colour-1.mp4
This is much more obvious. Notice his hair when he picks up the cloth.

https://rapidshare.com/files/3496478801/Credits-1.mp4
Notice the bushes at the right and left of the credits.

just finished watching the bluray
im totally disappointed with this release

the transfer is totally a joke , i mean i loved the colors , the backgrounds details but really ?? is that a disney bluray PQ ??

just look at every scene of kala you'll see something grainy and something like color shaking I don't know how to describe but its bad

omg @ the sence when kala shows tarzan his parents house @@ just look at the colors (kala body , tarzan hair) how bad it was @@

im sad

my rate :
PQ : 3/5
Audio : i watched this in my language tho
extras : 2/5
overall rating for this release 2.5/5

i'm glad they have released it at least , but of curse i wanted a better release for Tarzan

i think it was a bad decision to release it this year and now we have seen the result
a shitty release for a great Disney Classic

1 shitty transfer & PQ
2 no lossless audio
3 no extras

and all of that because of John Carter

Do Tarzan ( and Middle Eastern Disney releases in general ) have the number on the spine?

HO YES! I was JUST dreaming about this literally, though we haven't heard anything states side yet. One thing for sure, I'd definitely go watch it in 3D at the theatres if I had the chance!

I had a feeling about this, glad I didn't import the BD. Hopefully Mulan will get this treatment as well. I've been saying these CAPS movies have 3D re-release written all over them. I'm excited about Tarzan in particular, the Jane rescue/baboon chase should look amazing in 3D .
