I am at 2.3 firmware.

Watched Resident Evil 3 and the bonusview kept popping on/off the whole movie. I hate to turn off the diplay setting since I like to see the status bar when fast forwarding and stuff......

I thought that issue was fixed! Maybe not.

Hmmm, I thought the same thing. Version 2.1 took care of it and I have yet to update my player to 2.3. Does anyone know what exactly 2.3 was supposed to do? I know the website says improves playback compatibilty, but with which titles? Any info would be great.

Thats all the info Samsung ever gives so your guess is as good as mine. I did the update anyway.

Default Got one from Amazon

Just ordered this from Amazon (price $209).

We just bought a new Samsung HDTV with 1080p and wanted some new DVD to play on it.

We have no intention of doing streamng video so Profile 1.1 was just fine with us.

FYI, the 1500 doesn't do streaming video if you mean Netflix, unless of course you mean BD-Live. I for one wanted the Netflix feature on the 1500, but it's only offered on the 2550.

I have tried several BD discs with DB-Live extras none of them are able to detect and use the BD-Live function of the BD-P1500. I am on firmware 2.3. The player does connect to the internet and reports that it has the latest firmware. Does anyone else have this problem?

Several of the new releases do not play properly or at all including Iron Man, American Carol, Babylon AD, and Dark Knight. Dark Knight plays the movie but does not show the menu at all so cant select any features.

Try playing your discs that you are having issues with but disconnect the internet connection from your BD player first....if that works than just disable the BD Live function in your settings menu. That solved my problem with Iron Man specifically.

Unhappy Samsung BD 1500

I have the samsung player and have had the same problems or similar with Babylon AD. I followed the instructions to add the new OS via cdrom (LONG AND PAINFUL PROCESS) however I still can't get Babylon to play. I get the upcoming movie previews and the main menu screen but each time i try to play the movie i get as far as the 20th century screen and then it boots back to the menu screen.

Has anyone else had this issue with not being able to play these movies???

I own Iron Man and The Dark Knight, and have rented Babylon AD and have experienced absolutely no problems with the 2 I own or when I watched B-AD. I can tell you that I do not have my player hooked up to the internet and have the internet settings on the player disabled.

Have you plugged in a USB card into the USB slot on the back of the unit. BD-live requires at least a 1 gig USB card to work.

Hooking up to the internet has NOTHING to do with it and disconnecting it has no affect. It just does not play as others have noted. Also I just tried "Death Race" and it frooze up 4 times during the playback. I had to FF then RW to get it to play. Again BD-Live and Pic-in-Pic would not work. The disc reported that the player is not BD profile 1.1 compatible.

what the heck. I'm totally taking back this blu-ray player to BB tomorrow with all the trouble you all are having. I bought it with my samsung tv tonight, but it is clearly not worth it.

You got rid of it. How? Does not sound like you returned it because it was free. So does that means you sold it to someone that now hates you for selling them a problem player? If so, I hope they don't know where you live.

By using optical, you will only get the "core" DTS codec, not the HD, unfortunately. Same with TrueHD, however the player does decode TrueHd so you would have to set the player to PCM for that. Although, I'm not sure whether you get the TrueHD to the receiver since you're using optical. In order for the player to send DTS-HD MA and TrueHD via bitstream audiophile, you would need an HDMI 1.3 to a capable receiver. That's about the short of it.

well shoot. so its the bluray players issue it sounds like. or is it both? my reciever is an onkyo tx-rx505 and idk if it supports it. although i see a little light on my receiver for TrueHD and Master, but i have yet to find documentation weather or not it supports it.. would these be able to be sent over optical possibly in a new firmware upgrade?

Firmware would have absolutely nothing to do with this, sorry. You have to have an HDMI cable hooked to the player in order to get the HD codecs from any BR player. BTW, analog cables would also work on BR players to get the HD codecs, but since the 1500 does not have analog outputs that is a no-factor.
