The Skin I Live In helped remind me that totally f***ed-up foreign cinema doesn't just come from Korea.

Moon.
It's found more of an audience on home video, but it barely had a theatrical release and is still unfamiliar to most people. It's a shame because it's an excellent, intelligent little slice of sci-fi. No action, no dazzling FX, but a terrific thought-provoking story -- and wonderful acting by Sam Rockwell in a one-man show. Easily the best of the genre in the last 10 or 15 years. You may disagree if you like . . . but you're wrong! EDIT: (I just realized that this is from 2009. Eh. Close enough!) |

Doesn't need it...it's from one of the most celebrated working filmmakers and has tons of fans...I don't see mass appeal as necessary for good films...I'd say most good films don't have it.

That's a good point---most of us didn't see it until at least 2010 anyway. A great film indeed---I'd agree on that one being underrated. Despite being on blu-ray from a popular label, it really gets zero attention.

Most definetily. I highly enjoyed the prequel a lot more than I thought I would. It wasn't really scary, though, but I do admit to jumping a few times.

I don't know if they've been mentioned, but the first ones that came to mind were The Adjustment Bureau and Young Adult.
