What do you mean by "best"? The Brazilian version is said to have the highest bitrate, and it is also slightly brighter, which some people prefer.

I'm not sure about the region though.

Do you own it? If so, I'd be interested in buying it if/when you no longer want it.

My in-laws are from Brazil and their English isn't perfect, so I'm always looking for good movies with Portuguese subs for family movie nights. (I already have the US version, but it lacks Portuguese subs).

I really love this film, I really enjoyed it after my first viewing and after watching it for the second time it's hands down one of my favourite films ever.

I liked it the first time I saw it, but I think I also enjoyed the second viewing more. The first time I watched it I was worried in the beginning about holding onto all the story lines and characters that the viewer is quickly exposed to. On the second viewing, I was able to relax a bit more and just take the film in.

I was also able to tell my wife, who was viewing it for the first time, to not stress out about understanding everything immediately, and instead pay attention to the characters and the actors who portray them.

Hear hear! The film has so much replay value it's ridiculous.

I really should watch this again. I've been feeling a little down lately and this movie just makes me feel all sorts of happy.

Oh absolutely, and tbh some actors I couldn't recognise in the first viewing because the make up and costumes were so good.

I felt the same after my second viewing as well as looking through the special features, I had no idea how much attention they paid to all the little details, its amazing.

While I don't like it as much as some of you, there's no questioning the rewatchability. In fact, multiple viewings are pretty much a necessity with a narrative so detailed. Parts of it are convoluted to me, but I admire this film for the sheer ambition behind it.
Top 20 Favorite Films: 1. The Dark Knight 2. The Shawshank Redemption 3. Pulp Fiction 4. The Empire Strikes Back 5. The Departed 6. The Lord of the Rings 7. Casino Royale 8. The Lion King 9. District 9 10. No Country For Old Men 11. Tropic Thunder 12. Superbad 13. Saving Private Ryan 14. Spider-Man 2 15. Jaws 16. Vertigo 17. The Iron Giant 18. Inception 19. Traffic 20. Children of Men

I recently gave this a re-watch as well, and I agree it is an affecting film. It didn't dawn on me until my 2nd viewing that all of the threads dealt with captivity/imprisonment. When things all pull together at the end it is genuinely moving to me. A certain character's suicide is a real gut punch. And Jim Broadbent is laugh out loud funny in parts of this. Stupendous A/V quality this disc provides also.
