II heard an interesting story behind the disclaimer at the beginning of the videos... It was written by Greg Ford as an attempt to compromise with the exec in the legal dept who was causing all the problems. No one actually believed the BS about "it was wrong then and it's wrong now". In fact, when they asked Whoopie Goldberg to do the voice over on it, she agreed to do it for free to help get the cartoons released. All she asked for was a limited edition cel as a souvenir... a Bob Clampett limited edition cel of "Coal Black", her favorite WB cartoon.

Sounds like Whoopi Goldberg should be running the show.

With regards to the future of the Golden Collection, I still see WB releasing a one-off 'box set' that compromises all the Hannah-Barbera shorts into one package, rather than trying to sell multiple products and continually running into problems with each. I have no doubt that the pricing would be considerable (Equally, mature fans would be willing to pay the price just to own such a product, hence the premium), but from my own experience, families and friends that wish to own these cartoons do not care about advantages that Blu-ray would offer, and therefore opt for the cheapest DVD releases on the highstreet. Who can argue with 12-15 for such a collection?

Only a minority of shorts would need to be restored for a volume 3. All of the Cinemascope shorts were restored years ago for the Spotlight Collections.

So the 3rd (and final, last time I checked) volume of the Looney Tunes Platinum Collection has been announced. Any more developments on T&J? Or is it still currently cancelled?

Just wondering, was this officially released? If so is this like the rarest Blu-ray of all time? :P

It was never released due to a backlash of negative complaints regarding the omission of 2 particular shorts because they were deemed "racially insensitive".

I'm still holding on to the fact that the set was "delayed indefinitely" and never officially "canceled", although it might as well be by now. Maybe if the 3rd volume of the Looney Tunes Platinum Collection sells well enough we might see something come from it, but I wouldn't get my hopes up.
