10 posts? I guess I have to post uselessly so I can actually get around to posting what I want. Thanks!

We understand its a bit of an inconvenience to not be able to start threads right away, but the admins have had to institute that policy due to a constant barrage of spammers. Those guys are relentless.

The whole ten post thing is soooo frustrating. I have a time limited question I want to ask because some blu-rays are on special.

Do you think you're being overly rigid on the whole thing? After all I would have thought somebody that bothers to write posts such as mine is hardly going to be a master criminal spammer. I belong to other sites just as big as this and they don't have the same archaic restrictions and yet don't suffer from spam, what is it that you're doing differently?

In the end people will just end up posting ten messages of junk anyway (you could argue this is one).

Thanks very much.

Thumbs up

I know I am just a noob on this forum. But having posted on lots of forums -- and even modding on a few -- I can attest to how much worse it would be if bots and spammers could sign up and immediately start creating threads. We're better off asking just a little bit from new members.

And 10 posts is nothing. This is a large, busy forum. You could come up with 10 threads to reply to over a few minutes.

It would seem to me that they could also add a time limit to an account. I've been a member for 6 months but because I haven't yet posted 10 messages I can't create one topic concerning a blu-ray issue that I can't find an answer to anywhere.

In the event that this will just not happen, ever, it would be nice to not have a box at the bottom left of my screen that says that I CAN create new topics and also to have it in the FAQ somewhere that you need to make 10 posts before you can create a new topic.

I was going to create a topic about this in the Feedback section, but I suppose we all know how far I would get with that.
